Those do look like pretty good prices, though if I were driving that far, I'd make sure they gave me the price down to the penny first. I'd tell them I'm bringing a cashiers check and I need to know the exact out the door price. I've done that before and it's worked great, no haggling, the check's already written.

I think invoice is about 8-10% of MSRP, so these prices are significantly below that, and probably include the latest FORD incentives. I think most people have been paying around invoice +/- a few hundred, minus incentives, for special orders. Mine was invoice -$1500 Ford incentive. I'm sure I could have paid less if I waited for more vans to arrive on the lots, but I wanted very specific features and did'nt want to wait.

BTW, I think you'll love the 3.5 Ecoboost if you drive one. Fast!

Good luck,

JP

Nobody's getting the employee price except an employee . The dealer would lose $thousands doing that. Just like X plan that many of us purchased with, a z plan or whatever it is Ford calls it's real employee plan is a non-negotiable amount with the dealer being
paid a fixed commission by Ford. I'm not home now but on my printout I have MSRP, invoice, X, and the real employee plan all listed. Memory tells me it was 2-3 thousand less than X plan, which in my case was $100 over invoice.

I've checked Navy Federal's pricing - which is actually the invoice price. I bought my F-150 this way, got it for invoice (lower than their "Internet price"), then they included all the local incentives for a healthy price reduction. For ones optioned like those two, invoice is about $4000 below sticker. I've seen other dealers advertising what amounts to the invoice price but this is another $3000 less.

I'm thinking they are baiting people advertising the "Employee Pricing".

I just saw the asterisk next to the price and the statement linked to it:

"*Prices are based on A/Z plan pricing with conquest rebates."

I just realized this dealer is in Detroit, and is probably advertising the employee price for current and retired Ford employees. I'm sure there would be a large customer base there.

Thanks!

I ran the NFCU numbers again and invoice is about $3500 below MSRP for one optioned the way I'd want it. I plan to hold out for the MyFord Touch display.

A local dealer has a 150 XLT 130" LR, 3.7L, that I should probably test drive before I start getting too serious about this. The Transit will replace my F-150, and allow me to transport my recumbent bicycles inside the vehicle. Passenger seats will rarely get used, 3rd seat will always be removed, and the second seat will usually be occupied by my dog.

I'm concerned more about the foot room for the driver and front seat passenger, as well as seat comfort. The F-150 Supercab has the most comfortable seats I've ever sat in and has full length thigh support - which I know I'd be giving up.

I'm 5'11", but with a 36" inseam, size 11 feet, and I found the driving position really comfortable. It really feels more like a big mini-van to drive, the ergo's are really good for me. The passenger side was adequate, but I wouldn't call it spacious for my long legs. Much better than my old Econoline's though.

It's not as open around the legs as a Sprinter, which has tons of room, but it's light years more comfortable for me than a Promaster. As always, YMMV;)

The seats for me were more comfortable than our Sprinter. There is not as much room in the cab as the Sprinter, but definitely not all that bad. Feels like your driving a smaller vehicle...

The only complaints I've seen here regarding foot room or comfort are those related to accessing the rear directly from the front seats for those with long legs or feet.
With those tadpoles or trikes occupying the rear you're probably egressing the cab and re-entering through the slider or rear doors anyways, so probably no issues there.

Thanks everyone for sharing your experience.

The long wheelbase recumbent bicycle is too long to fit directly behind the second seat but will fit if loaded diagonally. I'm wondering if a wheel could fit between the second seat and the door/wall. If so, I could probably slide it in there and leave room for the other bikes. I could ask the local dealer to pull the third seat and let me test fit the bike. Another option would be to order the 10 seat model and remove all the seats except the two seat second row.

I have a fabricator friend who may be able to rig up some bike mounts that would attach to the third seat mounts in the floor.

My other concern is there doesn't appear to be any tie down points in the back of the wagon version? I wonder if it's possible to drill or cut the plastic on the wall in order to bolt in a tie down in the stock location as in the cargo van. I need to secure the bikes so they don't move around.
