Yesterday my wife and I plus a friend drove out the Columbia Gorge to go for a hike. Along the way we stopped at the restaurant at Multnomah Falls Lodge for breakfast (they serve a tremendous breakfast BTW). On the way we had been discussing the fact I'd ordered a Transit the day before and I was explaining all that I'd read about people who'd reported on the forum of their preference for the Transit over the Sprinter just before we arrived at the restaurant.

As we left the restaurant afterwards right in front there was a black Transit Wagon and several people climbing out. I approached them and asked who the owner was. A very nice younger man came forward and said he was. I quizzed him on how he liked driving the Transit and he was mildly effusive in heaping praise on how it drove and especially how much power it had. When I asked he said he had the eco-boost engine. When I made some remark to him about reading that people made comparisons favoring the Transit over the Sprinter he put an exclamation point on it by telling me he also owned a Sprinter and he regarded the Transit as far superior. It was music to my ears for him to say this in front of the two people who I'd been telling that to just a short while before. One of the sweetest moments of vindication ever in recent times!

Good to hear as I just sold my Airstream Interstate (Sprinter based) and ordered a 2017 Transit van to upfit. I just hope that the front seats are as good as the Sprinter's were.

Most of us that had a Sprinter would give you the same answer. Transit IMO is a much better vehicle. All have positives and negatives but overall I have no doubt that the change was the correct move.
How do the Transit driver and psgr front seats compare to the Sprinter's?

Comparable. Don't think one better than the other. Had long trips with Sprinter with no complaint. No long trips with Transit. Sprinter arm rests better. Transit seat has more adjustment (have power on Transit). Transit seats fully recline - nice feature. Transit cloth not as good as my F250 leather :)

They are more comfortable than the Sprinters. Both satisfactory.

Did buy the optional 21D cloth 2 way manual seats.

Will add 1" spacers to raise seat.

If interested, this is the option list of what I bought for a conversion:

I've been very happy with the Transit seats, I've driven for 5 hours straight and not felt uncomfortable at all. Can't think of any other car I've ever driven that I could say that about.

I only hope that the foam holds up, I'm sure after 150,000 miles they will not offer the support they do now.

The Transit seats are middle of the road. I've also driven 5 hours straight with little complaint. The bolsters are a bit small, headrests and armrests narrow. Depending on your height/position the door sill can be an awkward rest. Other than the real twisty bits the seats get the job done (even then the cloth provides enough friction that not too much sliding occurs).

Thanks for all of the info. What I liked most about the Sprinter seats was after driving for 4-5 hours, I could get out and not be stiff for five minutes.

The only thing I noticed on the Transit seats was the seat cushion seemed a little short. I'm not tall (5'8") and the cushion didn't come to the back of my knees by several inches.

Can't wait to get it.
