Tom Murray has resigned from Matt Ford to return to Florida for family reasons. Ryan Matt is still handling all the Transit Forum members with their orders but will have a new assistant, Josh Drummond helping him when he is out of the office. I will be meeting both of them on 11/21 when I pickup my 2017 T-250 DSD Transit.

They asked to have a meeting about future objectives for members of the Transit forum. One thing that I brought up when Tom was there was having a few in stock Transits on order and in their inventory. Starting in December, they will have 6 allocations for orders that will have scheduled builds sometime in late January/early February. Looking to order at least one of each of these Transit models; one T-150 LR wagon with 10 passenger seating, next a T-350 LR or MR 12 passenger wagon, and last a T-250 medium roof van. If you were interested in ordering one of these units, they would make you special pricing plus any Ford rebate that would be available when it is delivered. It has been noted to them that a MSRP price increase will be in effect after the next rebate period ends which is January 3rd. Getting your order in before this date will lock you in the current MSRP price structure and discounts from that pricing. You can order any type of Transit besides the ones listed above and still get their special pricing plus get it 7 to 10 days after it is built and passes Quality Control. One exception is if you have the Remote Start added as part of your factory order, which is done by a upfitter after the Transit is built.

The 2017 Ford Transit Order Guide is updated on their website, www.mattford.com under the Transit Customers Pay Less at Matt Ford toolbar. Part #1 is the 8/1/2016 updated version with part #2 staying the same as the part of the guide that did not change. Tom spent a lot of time converting the updated portion since Ford did not supply it in pdf format. Be sure to print part #2 in color to get the page 13 color diagrams for the various window and door options. Use this guide to create your Transit order using the option codes and descriptions, then use this order sheet to request dealer quotes. You can email your request to Ryan Matt ([email protected]) for a quote using your Transit order sheet. He will get back with you with his special pricing and your FREE BBQ lunch when you come to KC to get your Transit.

Comparison to most of the Texas dealer prices has been $1400 to $1700 depending on which body style and options you order. The biggest advantage if you order a medium or high roof is getting your Transit 7 to 10 days after it is released from Quality Control. The dealership is 24 miles from the Transit plant and they get their vehicles delivered via flat bed/slant bed trucks. Offset the above prices with your transportation cost to get to Kansas City and driving back to your home. You can get some good break-in miles on the Transit and the added bonus of a FREE BBQ lunch in downtown KC.

Planning in advance can help get some really good airline pricing into the KC airport. On my first trip with Glenn to help him drive back to Texas, my Southwest Airline ticket from DFW to KC was $95. Making another trip on December 15th and the ticket price was $98. Ryan Matt can help you plan out the trip once you have a VIN and a projected build date. Just take the build date, add 10 days and then plan your flight. If you order any options added after the build date like the remote start, you may need to add another 7 days as those options are added after assembly at a remote site.

Best to start out with using the 2017 Ford Transit Order Guide that is available on their website, www.mattford.com then look under Transit Customers. You can look at the 21 pages of options and from there come up with your order form using the option codes and descriptions. Then you can email it to Ryan at [email protected] He will get right back to you with a quote on your order and you can contact him with any questions via email, text, or phone call.

You might look at the T-250 DSD van (HKA34063) window sticker on their site with MSRP over $46K with selling price including rebate under $40K.

How come destination and delivery is listed at $1,195 on the window stickers at Matt Ford? Thats the same as the stickers here in Oregon, is that the default entry and perhaps discounted at purchase?

Transportation cost are established by Ford on a nationwide average and placed on the window sticker representing the SAME price to ALL dealers. Just because Matt Ford is close to the plant does not give them a advantage to other dealers in transportation cost. Using Matt Ford just gives you the advantage to get your Transit earlier than waiting for the vehicle to go from the plant transportation lot onto the rail cars coming to your area Regional Distribution Center, then delivered to your local dealer via flat bed/slant bed truck or trailer. The low roof Transits follow the normal movement just like the F-150 trucks next to the plant. They can fit in the same regular rail cars and move just as a F-150 truck.

The medium & high roof Transit have to take a different set of rail cars to be delivered around the country. They have a higher profile so these Transits fit inside and can be moved just like the low roof. Unfortunately there are not many of these special rail cars so a lot of Transits are held up longer in the delivery process. If your dealer is in a 400 mile radius of the plant, they get their Transit directly from the plant lot via flat bed truck/trailer. All others go the rail car transport, then unload at the Regional Distribution Center, and reloaded again to your local dealer.

Thanks for the info! Wish I lived closer so I could take advantage of the quick delivery. I'll be ordering mine in a month or two, can't find a high roof extended body within 150 miles of me, even then they are pretty stripped down fleet vehicles.

Where are you located in Oregon? Would you make a trip to WA or UT to get a HR-Ext? Could you use the T-250 HR Ext?
I'm in Bend and do regularly go to WA which is why I want the van but I'd have to wait until the mountain passes thaw out. I'm looking for a T250 EXT but it needs to be the 9,000 GVW version.

Main thing to look for in the 250 HR Extended is the body code R3X that is the 5th to 7th digits at the first part of the VIN. Looking at some Ford dealer ads they state it is a T-250 HR Extended when it is just the HR model, which has the R2X body code.

Would need to know which engine you want. The 3.7 engine will have just the 4.10 ratio rear axle. You can get better ratios with the 3.5L EcoBoost or the 3.2L Diesel. If you want something other than white exterior, that just puts it in a near impossible search, but there are some out there if you want to travel to get one.

Thanks again for the info, I don't want white which is most of the problem when searching dealer stock but what you gave me will make it easier to look since the body seems like the hardest part. I have noticed that dealers regularly make errors when it comes to describing these vehicles which can be frustrating.
