So far the only service manual I've found is from Helminc.com
I could not locate an "auxiliary rear heater" option during a recent van build. Is it an option? And if so, would it "Take the chill off the interior" as Orton is hoping below?Unlikely IMO as orton has a cargo van, without rear heat (I think but am not sure)...
Orton, a few months into your ownership...Does the system in place in your van "take the chill off the interior" ?? Is there a _from factory_ option that would do so without adding more _stuff_? We are still looking at a cargo version rather than the wagon.I do not know the watts of the Ford heating element ( if there is one)... Just have to use my remote start on a cold morning without starting the inverter. Ford system would still take the chill off the interior.
Thanks for resurrecting this interesting thread. My plan is as per your quote above. I have been told elsewhere on the forum that the stock Transit cabin HVAC has an electric pre-heater element which is indeed useful for quick heating-ups.I ask as i'm wondering if starting up the engine (3.5? or 3.7?) for a few minutes and getting some overnight-use amps back in the battery bank and taking the chill off would work?
Pondering. Thanks in advance for any insights!

I'd like to see some documentation for the electric pre-heater. I've started my Transit many times in sub-freezing conditions and there's no evidence of quick heat in my rig. Anybody got a schematic on that? I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere in Ford manuals or parts lists. Thanks for resurrecting this interesting thread. My plan is as per your quote above. Also a 12v blankie is recommended.
The remote start option 68B gives you a separate small key fob that allows you to start the engine from the fob. There is also an additional aerial mounted inside at top of windshield on passenger side to increase the distance capability.Orton, a few months into your ownership...Does the system in place in your van "take the chill off the interior" ?? Thanks Budsky. I'm going to look at my fuse panel and see if it has a blown PTC fuse. I definitely am not getting any heat until the engine is warm.I detailed the electric boost heater operation in this post- http://www.fordtransitusaforum.com/...17073-triple-agm-battery-bank.html#post212081
It is there and it works- at least on my van. It is also mentioned on page 89 of the Owner's Manual under Temperature Control.
There is an electric heater. I use it regularly. If the temperature dial is set fully clockwise, the electric air heater will run until the engine water temperature is high enough to provide warm air. If yours does not function this way then it needs to be repaired.I don't believe there is one.
This is the third Winter, and no matter what settings I choose, I don't get warm air out of the vents until my engine temp approaches 140 deg.
In the USA there is one.I cant understand who came up with the idea that there is an electric heater in the cabin.

Any chance posting a photo of the page please?I didn't believe it either, but there it is, right there on page 89. Never heard of such a thing, especially in a vehicle with such spartan features as mine.
I suspect the reason some think it doesn't work is that we tend to need the windshield defroster at the same time, which runs the A/C by default. Even with the engine temp at normal and defroster on, the air from the vents is just warm.
Its on page 90 of the 2015 manual and 93 of the 2016 manual. There is no actual reference to an electric heater specifically but I think it's safe to assume that is what is meant by auxiliary heater.Any chance posting a photo of the page please?

From the 2016 manual. Section B is similar in the 2015 manual. Mine does work by the way when I turn on Max A/C and set the temp to Max heat.
Fan speed control: Controls the volume of air circulated in your vehicle. Adjust to select the desired fan speed or switch off. If you switch the fan off, the windshield may fog up.
A
Recirculated air: Press the button to switch between outside air and recirculated air. When you select recirculated air, the button illuminates and the air currently in the passenger compartment recirculates. This can reduce the time needed to cool the interior and reduce unwanted odors from entering your vehicle.
B
Temperature control: Controls the temperature of the air circulated in your vehicle. Adjust to select the desired temperature. If you select MAX A/C, the system distributes recirculated air through the instrument panel air vents. This mode is more economical and efficient than normal air conditioning. Turn the temperature control to maximum heat to turn the auxiliary heater on
C
Air conditioning: Press the button to switch the air conditioning on or off. To improve air conditioning when starting your vehicle, drive with the windows open for two to three minutes.
D
Air distribution control: Adjust to select the desired air distribution
