Heya,
Trying to figure out which way to go with a new 2017 van. Searched here some, but still asking for advice.
This will be a van with no window.
2017 has a back up cam.
I'm not excited by any of the audio options, but I'd eventually like to improve audio.
If I just take the default audio system, without a display, then the rearview cam displays in the mirror. My understanding is that if you order something without rear window and the displayless radio, then the rearview mirror is included for (only) this purpose. I'm not sure I like the review mirror, if I don't have to have it for general driving purposes (b/c there are no rear windows).
But, if shortly down the road, i get an aftermarket audio system which is video capable (and hopefully i can somehow grab the video via the canbus? ), then I'd have the dummy rearview mirror. Or can it be cleanly removed from the windscreen at that point (as in, is it applied by some adhesive that can be cleanly removed)?
Or am I better off getting the $200 upgraded CD player system with a 4 inch display? I believe that then there would be no review mirror. It's kind of a waste, because it doesn't have any connectivity to bluetooth or android. Not even an audio input. But it might be worth it just to have the camera (and no mirror) from day 1.
Do I have all of this configuration/options correct? Any suggestions? thanks
