Looking very seriously at slapping down a down payment on monday for a 17' Unicell boxtruck.

Has ANYBODY heard any reports, with either the 3.2 or the 3.7? Closest approximation I've found is F150's with the 3.7 towing big RV's - seems to be about 11-14 mpg with the heavy load/increased frontal area.

Love to find some more accurate information regarding this specific setup, but I fear I may be the guinea pig!

No data, but can add another "approximation".

The Unicell is shaped a lot more like a Class B+ motorhome, plus it's roughly the same size, so I would compare to that if possible.

At present I'm not aware of any Transit-based Class B+ motorhomes in US (some in Europe but they have different engines). The closest vehicles that come to mind are ProMaster-based Class B+ like the Winnebago Trend, or the REV by a different company I can't recall right now. Anyway, with gasoline engines of similar size (although FWD) they report in that 12 to 14 MPG range.

For diesel the closest vehicles I can think of are Sprinter-based Class B+. These tend to be a little heavier because the chassis has higher GVWR. I've seen reports in the 13 to 17 MPG range.

As with any vehicle, speed, terrain, and driving style will affect outcome tremendously. At least your 11-14 expectation for the 3.7L seems to be in the right ballpark. If you plan to drive on the highway at 70 MPH fuel economy won't be pretty.
