We're only on our third tank of gas, both regular unleaded. We have the base engine which can take e85. It's a little out of the way to get it but I'm wondering if it would save money to fill it with e85 rather than regular. Anyone have numbers of the difference in milage?

I'd rather use E0. And I usually do, even at a bit of a price premium. Thankfully there's two stations in town with ethanol-free available.

I recall that the fuel mileage hit you take with E85 often kills any cheaper fuel cost. But that's old memories, and it really could depend on how the vehicle behaves and the price difference.

We have one station with ethanol free gas but it's a dollar more than the regular stuff and doesn't seem worth it. I have a feeling e85 will lower the milage but maybe not as much as I think. I spend a fair amount of time idling the engine to keep the air running while I deal with or wait for the kids. Seems like e85 would idle an engine cheaper than regular gas which might make up for the poorer milage while driving. I'll just have to wait and see after this tank is used up which will be at least another week to ten days.

In for seeing those numbers if you plan on tracking them and comparing to what you'd normally put.

I am not a fan of ethanol, but for grins, I tried several tanks of E85 in my 5.4 F-150's engine before the oil got changed.

The good: I got a few more horsepower when towing, because the ECM noticed the booze, adjusted the air-fuel ratio to allow for the more, but hotter-burning alcohol to do the work.

The bad: MPG went down by a significant factor.

My results are that the lower MPG isn't worth the cheaper price, and E85 is harder on the engine, so unless one just has to have those 10 horsepower... I'd not bother.

I'm pretty sure the van engine will be similar with factors.

I just got a Special Field Action notice 21L04 from Ford telling me to bring in my 2022 Ecoboost in to have the (possibly) erroneously applied E85 label removed from my fuel filler door. It also says that the repair will take less than one half day but due to scheduling requirements I might need to leave the vehicle. The notice said that if I do not have the service
completed it could possibly void my warrantee. :ROFLMAO:

Maybe you are unaware that you have have a secret order for the secret Transit plant that is so secret not even Ford Regulation Compliance officers are aware of. Isn't that a lifetime warrantee? I would not worry though the required pounds per hour of 85% ethanol at full boost cannot be achieved by the stock High pressure pump currently installed in Model year 2022 Transits. You have nothing to worry about. I checked with an ex-spurt>>>

I plan to leave the sticker in place. Should be worth $$ once that rare mis-build become a collectable, especially with the letter to prove provenance. But I aint gunna chance runnin' corn juice. I think I'll just go ahead and find an alternative use for that still that I set up down in the holler
