Trying to find out if Ford has built a Ford Transit body with the Dual Sliding Doors. Know of 3 people (at least 2 on this site) who have ordered one, have a confirmed VIN and have been on delayed build dates for the last 3 months.

If you have ordered one, post the last 8 of your VIN on this thread so we can find out how many have been ordered by forum members. Trying to find out what the holdup is on these particular body styles. Thinking Ford has not made the change to the machine that makes the body welds for this body style, and delaying it for more possible orders.

With help from my friend in Dearborn, we found that your T-350 HD Ext Transit with Dual Sliding Doors was built 10/2/2015. Sent you the link to view the window sticker and you can verify it via ETIS. Now get your dealer to see if it is still on the plant lot in Kansas City or on a railroad car to your dealer.

CVM- Well if they have one built I would think there would be more to follow. One was built on 10/2/15 and it's the 29th now I'm wondering why I still can't get anything, Etis or Window sticker?
Thanks for looking into this CVM. Vin # is in signature.

The Transit that Clam ordered is the only one that I have seen a window sticker and confirmed ETIS completed build date. Hope his dealer can locate where it is now that it is known to be built.

wgc still trying to find out about your Medium Roof Dual Sliding Door Transit.

tthrsn if you could send me your VIN by PM maybe I can find out something. Not sure how you could have a ETIS confirmed date unless already built and window sticker available.

CVM- This is starting to become one big mystery. I thought that they had to set up the assembly line different to do the dual sliding doors? If they did I would have thought that they would have done as many as possible then reset the line again to do other models. 10/02/15 is close to a month ago and still no word on mine or anyone else's. However I do appreciate all the time you have spent looking into this matter for myself and other members. Big Thanks.
Mean while it's back to banging away looking for the window sticker & Etis.

It might be my faulty memory. In early October the dealer sent me an order confirmation with a "Scheduled to Day" of October 26. I have checked Etis a number of times and I seem to recall seeing a build date of October 26 but tonight I wouldn't swear to it.

I have sent you my vin. I couldn't find a way to attach the order confirmation to the PM, but I would be happy to email it to you, if you think the information would be helpful in your quest. Thanks for your efforts here and good sleuthing.

Today both Ford Corporate and the dealership told me I'm about a week away from seeing the van. It's supposedly done and sitting in Kansas City waiting to be shipped. I placed the order and paid my deposit the first week of June, so if they can actually do what they say they will do THIS time, it will be a 5 month wait.

Thanks for your help, CVM. Much appreciated.

Not showing your Transit built yet. Tried to bring up the window sticker with no luck. ETIS not showing completed build yet. The window sticker should show up 7 to 10 days before the SCHEDULED BUILD DATE so looks like still waiting to show up. Will not need your order confirmation as you already have a VIN so we know the order is good.

Will keep checking on it. Call Ford Corporate at 800 392-3673 and give them your VIN and see if they can find out about the status of your Transit. You may even get a followup contact from your dealer after the Ford contact. If the dealer contacts you, tell them you want a printed 'Track a Vehicle by VIN' so you can see what the status is on your Transit. Should have your up-to-date information on when your Transit will be built.

Thanks for all the info. I'll keep checking Etis periodically but I am prepared for a long wait. It gives me time to plan, dream, and anticipate, which is the better part of most things anyway. Today I think I'll move my floor plans over to SketchUp, which should hopefully quell the urge to build a full size cardboard mockup in my living room.

Cheers.

CVM- sent you a PM, your inbox is maxed out, dealer just called and said new ETA of 30 Nov, 15. Yea, right 30 days until it's delivered and it's not even built yet. He thought he got the info from his daily status report.
FYI and enjoy your trip.

So today I got an e-mail from the dealership with more bad news. "There is a safety issue with the vehicle. Our inventory analyst looked into it and unfortunately there is a hold and it's not being released from the factory."

They forwarded me the e-mail the rep sent them.

"Please tell the customer it is a safety issue and the plant is going through safety precaution before releasing. These situations are taken more seriously to avoid customers having to come back for a recall. There are many Transits with this issue."

I replied that after 5 months my patience has run out and it's time for me to take control of the situation and start this process over with a different manufacturer.

Later in the day the owner of the dealership called and told me the safety issue is related to the dual sliding doors. This makes no sense to me because it would seem no matter which side of the van they're located, sliding doors aren't that complicated.

Clam , not good news for either of us. I was going to be happy if I got my Transit before Christmas but I thought 2015 not 2016. I'm with you on this not making any sense. "Ford has a Better Idea". This is getting pretty frustrating with all of changes I've had for ETA. At least you got a E-mail, guess I'll call mine tomorrow and see if I can find out anything. Thanks for posting.

I called a Mercedes Benz dealer today after building a 4X4 Sprinter on line, and now I'm really regretting ordering this Transit right now.

I placed an order on 10/6 for the dual sliding door option. Dealer said option was pushed to 2016 models which dont start production till Aug, Sep but never said a word about any potential safety issues or extended wait times. I have received the VIN already and my dealer said expected delivery is the same as cvm's of NOV, 30 2015. Could be a misunderstanding though because the generic build date code is very similar, 30.11.0002. I will be very upset if I have to wait 6 months.

Clam- Think we both have heard that before. So it's a 3-4 month wait for a Sprinter and we can only hope that the safety issue with the Transit dual slide van is going to be less. The old "between a rock and a hard place" applies here.
Think I'll just wait it out until I hear from CrewVanMan, as he has helped us all a lot in the past. He's currently at the SEMA show and doing other things for members on the site. He'll provide us with some better info to make a decision on. Bummer!

Im curious if it has anything to do with roof crush or roll over standards?

would love to hear the real reason for this and how its safety related. Obviously ford knows something.

poking around the 'net, it appears its an epoxy issue which could cause the door to slide open and eject occupants?

check out Recall #3 , then click on the 'expand' button.

That's interesting. Thanks for finding that and posting it. It sheds a little light but as far as I know just about every Transit has a sliding door so I'm a little perplexed as to why this is only an issue if the vehicle has two of them.
