Guys, attached is a picture of the antenna of my XLT (don't get me wrong I love my wagon) but keeps me wondering 70 Mph, no head wind.... I never saw that kind of bending in my life.... I don't think this is right, anyone else notice that or just me ?

Yeah it's normal for Transit.....drives me crazy! I'll replace it when I find a nice compact simple solution .

they should have taken a page from the M-B design book and put the Sprinters nicer looking short antenna center and above the windshield.

Less accessible to vandals as well....

onetwo, is it your intent to post a pro-Sprinter reply to every comment here? As someone asked the other day, why did you order a Transit?

Personally speaking, the non-stop barrage is getting very boring . . .

Your mileage may vary, but would you consider changing gears?

Thanks,

Peter

Overthink in this case?

I know the whole public forum yada yada yada . . .

Seems to me I have voiced a commonly held view . . .

Carry on as you wish, my first comment stands. Perhaps you should start a new thread:

I will say that my FM reception has at least 10% less range than my previous trucks. :(

Its helping the aerodynamic drag... yeah...

And I agree with onetwo, should've put it up higher. Aside from being up and out of the way, it just looks goofy where it is.

Be careful what you speak, apparently admitting a competitors design is better than the Transit is a no no on this forum.

Why is it better? I thought getting it off the roof was an improvement. Snow loads do not break it and it can not be hit where it is located. At least Ford may have specified the correct rubber so it does not disingrate like the gasket on my 08 Sprinter aerial.

You could pursue the looks of the van. Ford is uglier than the Sprinter IMO.

I agree. Transit Bad. Sprinter Good.

mine completely broke off right where you guys are seeing all the bending. Which explains the loss in reception. Te bending got worse and worse until the whole mast pulled off with no effort.
Now onetwo has something real to work with. Will be interesting to see if others have the same problem.

Guys check your antennas! make sure they are on tight, mine was loose by 2 turns , don't know if with the screw design of the antenna and wind it got unscrewed by itself or it was lunch time at Ford's assembly line.

Antenna is a long metal thing.

Van is a really long metal thing.

Very superior antenna could have been integrated into the van upper metal surfaces and been invisible as well.

My guess is not much original thought went into the design.

Guessing they didn't think much past the work truck basics. There's got to be a slick aftermarket swap coming from some sharp entrepreneur
