Hello,

I have some questions/concerns about what I want to get. I was going to get a Cargo van, but am also considering a wagon and turning it into a Crew style van (keeping first row seat) and using the back part as a cargo work area. I would need to modify a Bulk head and also need to mount my Boxes/bins to the top and bottom.

Anyone have one of the wagons and think this is feasible? My brother has a 2014 econoline 350 wagon we turned into a cargo. We left headliner/side panels/carpet in place.

I wanted to do this so I can also use this to take kids with me sometime. I know I will loose a bit of room ,but with the added height I think I could fit all my stuff my Chevy express van has in it.

Any problems that may occur ? Like is there anything in the way of Headliner to where I would not be able to mount my boxes? Any ideas on adding Bulkhead? Will I loose my side entrance to the back?

NO one has a freaking Medium top wagon anywhere near me to actually see for myself.

I want a MT 250/350 with ecoboost LWB for this setup.

Any suggestions warnings or anything I have not thought about would be helpful and appreciated.

Thanks

Just order a Transit Wagon and then the Builders Prep Package, then just find the 3 person seat and install it. You now have the Crew Van package but with windows. The area from the front seats to the rear doors will just have the metal floor like the cargo van. If you order the XL Wagon, the front passenger area comes with vinyl floor; on the XLT, it will come with carpet.

Still working with one of the Ford Design group on the Transit to get the same Crew Van design as in the Econoline. The first one they are looking at is one with the dual sliding doors. This would be promoted as part of the Commercial series and have the wire or solid bulkhead behind the 3 person seat.

Go to this dealer site....www.kengarffford.com and look at the wagon FKA71761. There is a picture from the rear of the wagon that shows the interior of the Builders Prep package. Shows full side panels and the headliner.

So on the builders package does it have side panels? A/C and Heat with headliner all the way back? Also is there a mount for the seat or would I have to retrofit it? Or is this just basically a cargo van with windows?

Thanks

That's a great photo. Thank you...

You know if a second seat bolts in or will I have to have one modified?

Only thing I see could be a problem is headliner sticks out a bit at the top sides where I would need to mount the boxes. Maybe I can cut some out or something.

Thanks

This Transit is a 2015 model, medium roof XLT 148" WB with 3.5L EcoBoost V-6. Exterior color is Sterling Gray with Pewter Cloth 10 way power seat. Options include 3.31 LS, 2nd row flip out windows, reverse park aid with rear view camera, trailer tow package, heavy duty batteries, and privacy glass. Perfect for adding your own custom interior with whatever seating configuration you want.

My friend in FL ordered one with High Roof, Extended 148" WB and made a traveling merchandise vehicle with satellite TV, nice bed with lounge area and room to store merchandise and EZ-Up canopies for setup at shows and auto swap meets.

Most of these wagons with the Builders Prep package that I have seen have been pretty stripped out of options, but this one is pretty loaded. This dealer has some pretty good inventory on the Transit Wagon with another Sterling Gray Wagon less the Builders package with a lot of special options (FKB25788). Both wagons have been discounted over $5000 from the MSRP.

I really want to have a pair of bucket style seats behind the front row, allowing total seating for 4 and the center aisle still open in a cargo van so I can haul a long item with the seats intact. Unsure how to accomplish this

I've done that in my cargo van. Here's a link: http://fordtransitusaforum.com/showthread.php?p=140138

I had them installed professionally, though in the past I've put these in myself. The seats are removable and swivel and are mounted to quick release steel plates (made by Flexsteel I believe). There's really not much to installing them other than to carefully measure where you're going to drill so you don't hit anything underneath. They were able to mount than without dropping the gas tank. Each plate has four bolts through the floor backed by very large washers (about 2 inches).
The seats are mounted far enough apart that I can slide a 14' paddle board up between them.

Yes! That's the idea! Thank you. And being removable makes it even better!
I was unsure about how to solidly mount them due to safety/legal concerns.
I assume that a pair of Transit seats could be used instead (losing swivel ability of course).

I'd even be happy to just put two single seats on the right side in a row where they go in the van configuration if it were easier.

I don't see the economics of that. Doesn't Builders prep reduce the price only about $900? You could barely buy a new single bench, seat belts, and attachment hardware for that. It probably won't match your interior either. You could go used but it seems like a tough way to save a couple hundred dollars. Seems like you'd be better off getting the seats and selling the extras to other people who want an one extra row.

hey guys i know this is an old thread but i thought i would give it a try!

i just bought a 2015 transit wagon 150 xlt rwb low roof

the seating set up is annoying.

passenger seats:
first row a two seater with a big open space near the door
second row is a two seater with a split and a little singe seat.
third row is a three seater bench seat.

what i want to do is move the 3 seater from the back and put it in the front seat. so that i can take everything out and build out the van for camping with the family and still seat 5!

the big question? is there a seat rail? or mount under neat the floor board? maybe i can just cut it out and it will snap right in? any help would be great thanks!
