Hi everyone,

About to put a deposit down on a T250, Mid-roof, 148", 3.5 EB, 3.73 LS, Quigley 4x4. This will be outfitted for eventual travel & van-camping, but keeping it convertible for cargo hauling and trailer pulling.

After reading the forum threads regarding order confusion with the radio packages I've decided to just get the radio prep package and install my own. This means the deletion of the interior upgrade so I have added as much of that package to the order as possible. I think the only thing I will lose from the interior upgrade package will be the radio & associated display & sync controls, and the cargo wall panels, half of which would have been deleted anyway with the installation of windows all around. So I will plan to line the cargo area myself. The way I'm ordering will result in a net cost reduction (at dealer invoice) of $711, versus getting the interior upgrade pkg with the standard radio.

So here is the order content, skipping the items included as part of the listed options:

TR250 MR Van (R2C), Lunar Sky (KT), Charcoal Cloth (CB), 3.5 Eco Boost (99G), 3.73 limited slip (X7L), Vinyl Floor complete (16E), Windows All Around Flipout 2nd Row (17K), Upgraded charcoal cloth seats w/ airbags (21M), Reverse Park Aid (43R), Trailer Tow Pkg (53B), Long Mirrors pwr/ht (544), Radio Prep Pkg (58T), Cruise Control (60C), Hvy Duty Alternator (63C), Dual batteries (63E), Brake Controller (67D), Illum Visors (85C), Keys 2 addl (86F), Aux Fuse Panel (87E), Power Point (90B), Power Inverter (90C), 6 speakers (91G), Privacy Glass (92E).

Estimated completion late November.

I would still get the interior upgrade just to get the better display, and then not have to be in a hurry to do all your upgrades.

What about the privacy glass? It is better than tint.

I reviewed both the mirror back-up display and dash display. Couldn't read the larger dash display but the mirror display was sharp and closer although smaller. Much easier for me to see. It is only available with the cheapest radio I believe. If you are going to tow anything of bulk, get the long arm mirrors.

3.5 Eco Boost (99G), 3.73 limited slip (X7L)
Hi Mike,
I have questions regarding the 3.73 limited slip and the Quigley 4x4 conversion.

I don't plan to tow, but somebody told me the 3.73 might be a better rear end with the 4x4 assuming Quigley's will outfit with larger tires. Also, I was wondering if the limited slip is retained during the 4x4 conversion (is it worth getting in other words).

Have you spoken to Quigley's regarding the 3.31 verses the 3.73 and the limited slip option?

Also, will the vehicle be shipped directly to Quigley's for 4x4 before you take possession (or possibly even see it)? And, do you know if Quigley's is ready to go commercial with their 4x4? I'm curious because I also plan a 4x4 conversion. Thanks, Joe

I've read some criticism of the various radios and displays that Ford offers for the Transit, so rather than take a chance on being unhappy with the unit they deliver and having to scrounge up the dash parts to install an aftermarket later I'll just order the vehicle with the dash ready to take whatever I decide to put in it. I see some nice players out there for far less than the cash I would pay out for the Ford unit, assuming I could get the features I want from Ford. The back-up camera will be standard on the 2016, so it will come with a display in the mirror.

My order does include the Privacy tinted glass and the long-arm mirrors.

I have to order 3.73 ratio to get the largest towing capacity, and I think it will suit the Quigley conversion perfectly, allowing a somewhat larger tire to be installed while maintaining good towing characteristics. The limited slip differential option should have no effect on Quigley's work. It is a great value at the option price.

The vehicle will dropship to Quigley from Ford, and at this point it looks like I will have to pick it up there. I thought of waiting for Ford to sort out the means to do a ship-through, but I hope to take possession before the end of 2015 so did not want to wait much longer to get the order in. Quigley is supposed to officially start offering the Transit builds on July 1.

Audiopyle, I'm probably in the minority, but I'm pretty happy with the radio that came with the Premium package. Good Bluetooth and voice controls, great back up cam (driven quite a few rental cars lately and none as good as my Transit cam). Sound is decent.
Premium package is a pretty good deal if you want the power seats (they're quite nice and very adjustable) protection panels, vinyl floor, etc.

I would consider the tow package just to get the tow/haul mode button. You also someday may want to add a bike rack.

I agree that the premium package is a great deal, but it required a few things I did not like, such as the plastic chrome headlight and grill trim, and from the threads discussing the radio options I am not sure if it would include a CD player or not. It also seems some of the functionality of the Ford players is odd, like not being able to organize playback from a USB stick in a desirable manner. Power seats are great, until they stop working right. Maybe that is not much of a problem anymore but I have had issues with some in the past.

Tow package is included. I definitely will be towing.

Thought I'd share what Quigley's sent me this past week...

You can go to any Ford dealer and order your "NEW TRANSIT" with the Quigley 4WD system.
Have the dealer use our order code with Ford, just like ordering any option. (REAR AIR, NAV)
Please have the dealer give me a call; we have paperwork that needs to be done so Ford will ship an untitled van direct to us. You pay the dealer the dealer pays us. Easy peasy!

We have "SHIP THRU" with Ford on low roof models only, Drop ship on the mid roof. (SHIP THRU IS EXTRA $1,100.00)

We are not ready to accept orders on the high roof, diesel engine, or dual rear wheel as of yet.
So that leaves, 3.5L, 3.7L, LOW/MID roof, both wheel bases.

Retail pricing is as follows.
3.7L $11,995.00
3.5L Ecco $12,495.00

As I said you pay the dealer, the dealer pays us. Ford Motor Credit will finance the complete deal.

After you choose the dealer you would like to work with, please have them give me a call, I can walk them through the order process. Ask to speak to the Commercial MGR, or the Fleet MGR. these are the guys who do truck upfits all the time. The "CAR" guys out front will look at you like you have one eye coming out of your forehead! Light humor!

please feel free to contact me

This is very close to what I'm interested in except substitute the diesel engine and no 4x4.

I'm just trying to figure out some optional rear seating.
