Has anyone here had any experience with the Abilitrax flexible seating system? It looks like it might be a good system for those wanting to be able to move their seats around or remove easily to change your van's configuration. Don't have any idea yet about costs. I am waiting for a response from the company.

I'm getting their crew van setup installed in a couple of weeks. I'll post photos and let you know when its finished. Its a pricey setup but I really wanted seats that were easily removable, and I didn't want to deal with any liability of installing seats from e-bay etc...

sosmercford,

Below is a link to one of the Threads discussing the Abilitrax system. You can also find others by typing in "Abilitrax" in the SEARCH box, above right. Some of them have pictures of it and pricing.

I looked at their website, that system looks very heavy duty, don't really like the look of the seats. I really wish Ford made a crew van, it seems there is a a lot of interest in adding seats. Not sure how I'm going to proceed putting them in my van. Thanks!

I don't like the appearance of their standard seats either. I'll bet they could really increase their business if they figured out a way to adapt their system to accommodate the standard Ford seats. That would be awesome because my guess is there are alot of brand new Transit seats that have been removed and are out there waiting to be sold :)........

I'm guessing that their product is more geared towards a universal fit for many platforms, giving commercial companies the ability to configure their vehicles to be both ADA compliant and quick reconfiguration for different passenger capacities. The statring price I remember from before, was in the area of 10K.

Abilitrax costs

Spoke with a dealer down in Oregon yesterday and confirmed that the floor system is about $8500 and seats are around $1000 each. I don't think that even included installation labor.
I guess ordering a WAGON and then removing seats to arrive at a desired configuration may ultimately be the most cost effective approach.:(
sosmercford,

Copied your post over here. On a Thread started earlier this month on the same topic. This way those wanting info can look in one place, instead of having to bounce all over the forum. :)

I have been recently communicating with Abilitrax Sales trying to get some questions answered. So far I have learned that their "crew van" floor setup is $3595 and their "super-crew" floor setup is $4995. This does not include shipping or installation cost. It also does not include the cost of the seats. I asked if their seat bases could accept OEM Ford seats......not at this time, but they indicated it may be something they are working on. That would be awesome because I'd like to be able to use OEM seats to match the OEM driver and front passenger seats.
They are also trying to work with Line-X to set up some dealer/installation facilities. This would be great because currently there are no Abilitrax dealers in my area....but there are Line-X shops.
Now, if Ford were only ready to offer the LWB EL in a mid or low roof ......Wagon or Van and I'd be hot to trot! (this along with 4x4......oh, I know, I'm just dreaming!!)
