School Bus yellow 148" Medium Roof with 6500 miles from a Ford Dealer for 31K. Drove it from Bluffton, SC to Connecticut then across New York to Traverse City, Michigan, averaging 22mpg to 27mpg. The computer was reading an average of 15.8mpg when I left SC and by the time I reached Michigan it was reading 24mpg. I am a cyclist, kayaker, sailor and rock climber with a steal tent on wheels and very happy so far.

Ya know.... we are going to need to see some pics of that school bus of yours!
Curious about the yellow color- what is the story on that?
Since that was not a standard factory color AFAIK-
Repainted or a fleet?
Yellow was fleet only when I ordered mine. What fleet only means is probably open to interpretation.
Are you still seeing those mileage numbers? I haven't yet seen a lot of positive mileage numbers from the diesel. Hows that DEF holding up? have you had to refill it yet?
On mine on the 2.2 a tank of def lasts 3000 miles approx.
18.2 life time here. 5700 miles on the beast. About 60/40 city/highway.
14.8 with 950 miles on the ticker. High roof extended

Those are impressive mileage numbers. What gear ratio do you have and what speeds were you running? The low roof must make a huge difference. Either that or yellow is the most fuel efficient colour in the line up.
Yellow is the fastest but not the most efficient!

No, you are confusing the OP with me - the OP has a mid roof diesel. Mine is a 3.7, 3.73 combo - I can log 19mpg indicated at 75mph no problem, more if you go slower.
Klp, I just noticed that. Still on my first cup of coffee. 19 is about what I can do at that speed in my high roof diesel 3.73. Maybe a touch better. I weigh about 7500-8000 lbs most of the time.

How has the van been for you? Do you still have it? Any major issues with it?

Yup I still have it.

I have got 32k on it, no problems. My build thread tells the whole tale, the only real issue I had was the battery died one winter after sitting in my garage. Ford towed and replaced it under warranty.

I have the recall notice for the driveshaft coupler but have not had the work done yet. 19mpg seems to be about where it sits if you trust the van readout.
