the reverse camera is standard on 2016 vans, but the "Rear View Camera with Mirror Display" is still an option (61C). so i guess that means the camera display is on the 4" display? can anyone with a 2016 van comment on how effective that combination is?

I ordered the cheap radio just to get the rear view mirror camera display. It is sharp, has great color and is located in a place that I am used to looking at. I've had problems seeing displays on the dash - not where I want to look. Also have the reverse park aid and that extra info in the display is quite good. A bit of a nuisance this weekend in pastures as it alarms in tall grass but the picture is so good it's not difficult to tell the difference between the grass and something that would damage a bumper.

excellent -- in a 2016? i was kind of hoping for the mirror display as well, but the fact that it's still an option made me worry. re-reading, i'm thinking it might just apply to the cutaways: "Rear View Camera with Mirror Display. Will be a kit in dunnage for Cutaway & Chassis Cab that requires upfitter installation."

I have a 2016 T150 cargo with the standard radio. The rearview monitor is in the mirror and it is very good. I wish I could also manually turn it on at times to check the wider view the camera provides. Since the large rear windows get dirty and my cabinets obstruct the rear view mirror view a little, I find the camera view helpful. In my previous E250, I installed a review camera in the rear door and manually controlled it and it was very helpful. On my T150, I installed a small camera on the passenger side to give me a view in parking lots to help when backing. I control that camera.

I really like being able to back right up to a parking line first time every time using the cam.

It is very useful at night as the back up lights are bright and make an effective combo with the cam.

I still prefer backing using my mirrors, but like the cam for fine tuning. My spouse keeps an eye on it too, which proved helpful recently when a pedestrian appeared from nowhere and she called it!

I have a 2016 T250 MR 148" base radio and thus rear view mirror display.
Works great! You can park down to the inch. I'm also fond of the moving white lines in the display that indicate the position of your wheels.

When I get my Transit soon with the same setup (monitor in mirror) I am going to try to figure out a way to do this.

A wiring diagram for the rearview camera system would be extremely helpful. If anyone knows where to find one for free or cheap let me know. I usually use the Alldata system that is available at my public library but the Alldata info for 2015-2016 Transits does not include schematics (yet).

In my current van, a 2013 Chevy Express with rear view camera and monitor in mirror, I was able to get the system to stay on any time the ignition is on. I followed the schematic for that van and found the +12v signal from the reverse lamps that activated the rear camera & monitor. I cut that wire, added a diode inline to prevent the power from backfeeding to the lights and keeping them on all the time. Then I just ran a +12v ignition switched line from the fusebox to the camera side of that wire.

I hope it's that easy on the Transit but I won't know until I have it or I find a schematic.

I can't help you with blueprints, but I can tell you that the view of the rear camera is quite low and then you have those white lines on the screen, that move when your wheels turn.
Backup Display & Backup Sensor

At some point in time I'll install a separate 4-cam system (with recorder) with a different point of view.

Hey there did you ever get this done? I’ve got a 2016 and would have to have that display on permanently. Thanks!
