My dealer contacted the Brand Manager for the Transit with this question. He told my dealer by email that the problem has been fixed. We shall see.

I presume no one has a 2016 to confirm yet?
Thank you for posting the thread for others to see, PeterR. And thank you Forrest for the input from the Brand Manager.

Surely they have either fixed this for 2016 or are working diligently. I like the Transit cargo can (even though they are a bit over-priced) but I cannot order a $32,000+ van with such a glaring problem :)

No it is not.

When I first got my van, I gave it the 5 gallon bucket workout and was satisfied that whatever caused other filters to get wet wouldn't affect mine...but 3 months and plenty of rain/snow later I've been proven wrong.

Yesterday I pulled the cover to eyeball it and indeed, the small "pre-filter" thing was damp. There was a little bit of water down in it's hole. The big part of the filter was dry.

We've had a LOT of rain here in Denver recently, and I specifically chose to inspect it after it had stopped. Water does get past the gutter, funnels, etc... and in the past I noticed a bit of it sitting on the place where the two pieces connect.

Somewhere in the rear left corner of the box is where the water is getting in. It's a very small amount. I'm going to modify a mini TURD for it.

Air filter on my 2016 was wet and stained after the first rain exposure. Filter was replaced under warranty.

Have not checked it since.

I have a 2016 and do not have an issue with a wet air filter, and I live in the Pacific Northwest where we get lots of rain. I have checked the filter several times and it is dry. There appears to be a 'gutter' system installed below the windshield which seems to collect the water and then drains it to either side of the engine compartment. I asked my dealer in regards to a Recall or TSB and it appears that neither has been issued to Ford.

There is most definitely a Field Service Action (not a TSB or Recall) on my 2015 Transit for this issue, but with nothing available yet for the dealer to address it with. :(

Either your dealer:
1. looked up your specific 2016 and did not see anything listed since I don't think current production has this problem
2. did not look good enough to find the Field Service Action for thousands of transits like mine
3. only looked for Recalls or TSBs and no further, when he should know that they use the term Field Service Action for many issues like this they are supposed to address
4. does not care enough about his product to inform himself about a vexing issue facing most of us here that Ford clearly is aware of and all of us know about

Air Filter with water issue !

Has the wet air filter problem been fixed for the 2016s?
I was at the Ford dealer today. The service manager told me to bring in my 2015 for the upgrade to fix the wet air filter issue. He mentioned it consists of installing a new diverter tray and etc.

I will take mine in and have the modification installed soon! I'll repost the results!

I too have a 2016 with the diverter tray and tube to channel it away, my filter is not wet. And my slider door works perfectly once i adjusted the rubber stops to quell a noise that could only be described as a mouse orgy
