Anyone know what, if any, changes there are between the 2016 & 2017 vans?

Also, any prognostication on when the first redesign will occur? Pass cars are usually about every 4 or 5 yrs or so. So in theory that would put the transit cycle at about 2018.

My speculation is that the first redesign will occur when Ford gets a peek at what GM might be up to.

ok, so nothing solid yet I guess. Search a bit and turned nothing up on the bigger web. FWIW, I for one would avoid a 10spd trany. Fractional increase in mpg for a much more complex design. And never in the right gear. Grump, grump. Now if a CVT could be made reliable and capable of hauling some real weight... now we're talking.

I emailed Ford mentioning the press release on the second gen 3.5 Eco in the 2017 F-150, and asked if/when this engine would come to the Transit...it has been a few weeks and no reply. I sent it to the contact us section of the Ford website, but, I guess since I wasn't asking about a vehicle available today, they are ignoring me....Q from seller: are you ready to buy now? A from buyer: No, not now. Response from seller: Go away, you're bothering me.

The bigger question is will Transit get the same kind of love as the Econoline - ignored for quarter century, then, given a redesign whether it needs it or not.

There are many upgrades that drivers would love and which would improve sales.

A sunroof for one . . .

The better solution is always going to be personal responsibility, the road to that is paved with consequences for one's actions. I rather not have to spend the extra $500 for the system and on top of that the extra $5,000 for the class action douches who will surely glom onto any and every imagined defect, when all along the proper fix is caning people for texting while driving. I'd bet real $ that would save more lives than collision avoidance systems.

I feel pretty sure that if we got rid of seat belts and airbags, then add 6" long, shiny barbed spikes to the center of the steering wheel that the road would be a safer place. It would cut down on the texting and driving. ;-)

Built in jammers that only operate when the engine is running would prevent numerous accidents but the roads would be lined with temporarily parked vehicles.

"Personal Responsibility" isn't a solution though. A solution is something that can be implemented to fix a problem. You aren't going to magically make every person 100% aware 100% of the time, driver aids aren't designed to replace drivers they are there to supplement what is inherently a flawed operator – humans.

Acting like those systems are a problem is just something some people use to illustrate how they are superior to anyone who might find those systems useful.

I was at a Texas Rangers/Kansas City Royals baseball game this past Thursday night and just happened to sit within a group of Kansas City fans. The guy who sat next to me turned out to work at the Ford Transit plant in the robotics department. We talked shop about the Transit and some of the changes coming up. He said a lot of changes will be coming on the 2018 model. The front grille and headlamps assembly will change with possible HID lamps. The tail lamps will have a slight design change to give the 2018 a slightly different look. More options that are now on the 2016-17 F-150 will be brought over to the Transit. I asked about the newer design 3.5L EcoBoost engine and he stated it might be on the Transit depending on the updated CAFE requirements.

I gave him information about the Transit forum site so hopefully he may come on here and keep us updated on the Transit.

Good information.

But, unless they put in a switch for the cargo lights, none of it matters!

On that we will disagree. There is a device I think should have been on every car since it was invented. A breathalyzer ignition interlock.
