Regarding lithium batteries and winterizing: I live in Phoenix and occasionally the temperature goes below freezing during the the months of January and February. I certainly drain the water tanks and fill the bottom of the tank with “cheap” vodka more to kill bacteria than prevent our pipes from freezing. I use a small 200 w ceramic heater (plugged into 110 shore power) under the platform bed at night if the temps are in the 30’s when the van is not in use. I use a timer to turn the heater on and off. I monitor the temperature inside and outside the van using Moat wireless temperature sensors. Here are my pictures of the proof of concept when I used it last winter.

I have Expion 360 LiFePO4 batteries in the van. Unfortunately, my generation (Gen 1) of Expion do not have a temperature sensing BMS built in so leaving the batteries on a charger could be fatal to the batteries in freezing conditions. Battleborn and Renogy both have built in battery heaters available now to prevent damage at low ambient temperatures. Our batteries are installed inside the van under the platform bed. We have a Truma-Combi Eco heating system that works for us while we are traveling and using the van in cold weather. Fortunately, being in AZ in the winter is a good thing with respect to winterizing, except if you love to ski.
