Ford Opens Assembly Plant to the Press

Ford "officially" opened the Claycomo plant Transit line this morning to the press with a speech by the governor of Missouri and small open house.
The local news showed several pics & videos of the line while it was running. The van they focused on in the video was a dually white cargo with some upscale exterior trim. They also showed the engine line running and the particular engine they showed was an inline, so we all know what engine that was.

Anyway, from a current Sprinter owner, that is one good looking van! And I'm excited we've got a viable Sprinter/ProMaster competitor being made in Missouri USA!

Bob I totally agree with you. American manufactures have ignored the full size van market to long.

Count me in too, I am buying a American Van built by Americans, Ecoboost from Cleveland Ohio. Im glad to see the work here and not imported. This is going to have a big effect on people who are buying Vans.
Nobody bailed out Ford with tax dollars, they are building VERY GOOD PRODUCTS.

Is there a Ford plant in Ohio that builds Transit vans?

The plant in Ohio built the Econoline wagons and vans up to the 2014 model (E-150 to E-350) and still builds the larger versions there. The USA version of the Transit has only been built at the Kansas City plant (Claycomo).

Avon Lake, OH

When the main Econoline production left, they were just building the cutaway and stripped chassis Econoline vehicles. Later they added more of the heavier models of the F-650 & F-750 there and then in late 2016, they started building the H/D version of the 2017 Standard Cab F-350, F-450, and F-550.
