Nice video of a converted Transit camper getting up into the hills in Utah.

Oops. Sorry for the repost.

I always have my wife there to perform and judge when we put it in 4wd. Very impressed with this video though. And have always wondered why Quigley to this day has never done something like this as a promo. Maybe because they sell all they can convert? I have the 16's with the BFG's, these wheels/tires look bigger.

Looks like my van's twin. I just got back from a 1300 mile shakedown after putting the basic camper conversion in place and did several off road sections. Like others have said, its impossible to capture and convey steepness with a camera. I did one section of loose gravel and rocks, which was so steep that I was leaning forward involuntarily "keeping the weight on the front wheel" lol. I took some photos of the hill and it looks like nothing.

One thing is for sure, 4x4 Transits with decent tires are surprisingly capable off road!!

They're hard to wash. I have to pack a ladder when I do it they're so high up. That's about the only negative. I bought one on the lot (end of year) and had it converted so under $50k total. If you can resist adding all the options it's hard to argue against the 4x4 part out of some kind of culture argument. Oh, and the ego trip is an issue (here I go again).

To duplicate what I said on the other exact same thread: Do not hold your breath waiting for the van to go "offroad". It is driven on a dirt road the entire time.

There seem to be several different ideas on what "offroad" means. Some believe it to be driving anywhere off asphalt, even if it is a maintained road.
There is the ongoing debate on whether 4wd is a necessity or a luxury for some situations. ie: you don't need shoes to walk. You don't need running shoes to go running, but they make it better and easier. You do need crampons to go ice climbing.
