I decided to test drive the little coffee pot I posted earlier using the induction stovetop in the kitchen.

It went from tap water to brewed in under two minutes. This bodes well for energy conservation in the van.

This gizmo is a "two-cup" brewer, but that is based upon the espresso-sized cups. So, in reality it is a one-cup brewer of strong coffee. (anyone considering this route can take that into consideration)

Make americanos, just dump that espresso into a larger cup of hot water.

Or regular Bud, or Coors, or Miller, or Corona, or Dos Equis, or St Pauli Girl, or Rolling Rock, or any of the other mass produced watery lager drinks that taste nothing like actual beer. Is it even legal to CALL those drinks "beer"?!

Which reminds me, I need to pop open that Pliny The Elder bottle I have in the fridge soon, it's about a month old now, I don't want it to fade before I get to it.

I like strong coffee (espresso, a true macchiato, and the like), just wanted to let anyone who might be expecting standard low viscosity coffee know of the output of this method.

But, yeah, you could add water at the end, or reduce the amount of coffee used to brew up front and approximate American style.

Stainless steel moka pot over Trangia alcohol stove. Five minutes.

Trangia mod: support for small pot made with 1/8" stainless rod and holes added to Trangia stand. Use wet dish cloth to snuff flame when done.

Denatured alcohol is a bit cheaper, but Everclear serves both as fuel and fortifier.

We have a small, 120V drip coffee maker. It's stellar. Makes just the right amount to fill two small personal stainless steel thermos that we sip from in the morning whether chilling out or driving to the next destination. Best part is the inverter switch is by the bed so we prep the coffee maker the night before with grounds and water and turn the coffee switch to on. When I wake up, I hit the inverter switch from bed and the coffee maker starts to gurgle. So civilized.

Arrived April: 2018, 250 cargo, HR, extended, metallic magnetic, 3.31 LSD

Here's our fancy setup:

- Porlex Grinder
- Rok Presso manual espresso maker
- Nespresso Milk Frother

It makes real Latte just like at home (we ditched our electric espresso machine), keeps us away from expensive Starbucks...

Living next to a Coffee roaster will cure your Coffee habit.
In the 1970s I lived a few blocks from Maxwell House Coffee in Jacksonville Florida for a little over a year. the first month it smelled wonderful, After that it started to smell more like industrial waste!
