I had the plain Jane AM/FM radio and put an Alpine ILX-W650 in there with some Rockford Fosgate 6.5" component speakers. I'm just running off of head unit power for now, but if I feel like it's lacking, the insanely shallow depth of the head unit (probably) allows for an Alpine KTA-450 amp behind it. May put some 6x9s or something in the b-pillars at floor level if it comes to that. I used the METRA adapter kit. I've been using them for a few installs now, and I can say the top-notch quality on this kit really surprised me. Looks factory.
