Upfitters switches working!

Ok, so I've been off of the site for a little while now. I finally had some time to come back and explain how I got the upfitter switches to work.

Basically it all came down to a couple of items. One being this info:
https://www.fleet.ford.com/truckbbas/non-html/Q-250.pdf

that someone else posted in one of the other upfitter threads.

I have quite a few people that work in the industry and suppliers due to the fact I'm in Detroit. It took me about 3 weeks to get the info I needed. I can't believe some pins were so hard to track down.

If your read that bulletin above you'll see switch 1&2 are 20a and 3&4 are 40a.

So for switch 1 you need pin ports #1 (power) and #43 (ground).

Here's the hard part. These are the most elusive pins I have ever tried to find.

Yazaki: YNA-7114-4111-02 these are a little flat blade termination that crimps onto the end of your wire. All you have to do is stick it in the terminal until you hear the click and you are done. That's it.

The switch lights up when it's turned on. If you leave the switch on and turn the vehicle off and walk away the lights will be off. Hope this helps anyone else who was looking into it.

EDIT: I was fortunate enough to have a friend that brought home the special crimping tool for these connectors. He said it's insanely expensive. After seeing it done , if I didn't have access to the tool I would just crimp this connectors with some electrical crimpers/pliers.

Thanks for this info! I'm not currently working on those areas but will certainly refer to them, and have upfitter read the printouts of them, when I get 'round to it! ;)

So it's all in one thread, which upfitter switches are the "always on" ones (2 are and 2 aren't)-- are they the 40amp ones?

Ok. Treat me like a complete electrical idiot. I just got my 2017 and I ordered it with the upfitter switches thinking I would add exterior leds to aid in seeing saw cuts on material I work with. 1st question....is this possible? 2nd.....I was told by fleet salesman there's a hot and ground in auxiliary fuse panel I just tie into. This correct? And what are any other uses for these switches? Sorry for the ignorance. Electrical is my downfall and I've only had my van for about a week and a half.

I have a 2017 250 with the upfitter switches. I've hooked up the CCP connections, the R6 jumper, and the 6 Way jumper lead that controls switches 3 and 4. Currently switches 3 and 4 work fine.

I've having trouble understanding how to access switches 1 and 2 however. My "Accessory Kit Bag" had the 43 way jumper lead inside, but I am confused as to how to connect it to the High Specification Vehicle Interface connector as there is a purple wire blocking the connection as well as some tape and velcro. The purple wire, tape, and velcro make me think I'm not supposed to connect the jumper lead here... not sure what I am supposed to do.Here's some pictures to show what I mean:

Buy this book.... It has every single bit of information one would ever need for anything wiring related in their Transit.

and to the OP... Admittedly the Yazaki connectors and terminals are difficult to track down but they are out there if you know where to look. Ford uses a lot of them and between connector families, they sometimes use the same terminals.

Crimping tool is not hard to come by either...

They're out there via the usual sources...

Does anyone have a 2018 Transit Cargo that has had trouble finding the upfitter switch connection? The switches are lit but neither the upfitter I went to or the dealer I bought the van from can find a connection for the switches to use. Everyone has looked in the usual places for the connector, the battery compartment under the drivers seat, behind the glove box, in the engine compartment.

In the same plastic bag as the High Specification Vehicle Interface Connector (43-way) there are three other items.

The HK4V14A411JA four wire harness is the same C33-H High Capacity Auxiliary Switch Output Connector (Upfitter switch 3 Output 40A and Upfitter switch 4 Output 40A) described in Ford SVE Bulletin No. Q-250 issued on 08/08/16.

Does anyone know the purpose of the HK4V14A411KBA seven wire harness or the Hella 12V 30A YPN # 7293-2123 delivered in the plastic bag?

I have been working on using my upfitter switches on a 2017.

This link no longer works from the first post and I cant find the information on what pins are for what circuits on the harness behind the passenger dash. If anyone has a copy or can point me in the correct direction i would appreciate it!

Thanks TomW!

Man! i think i have some kind of issue from the factory. I have got the 1st switch working I used the ground and the positive pin in the harness. It works as it should but when i hit the brakes hard something under the dash buzzes and the light I have hooked up comes on? Trying to figure out what would cause it. I can switch the light on and and off and it works as it should. But when i hit the brake firmly a loud buzz and lights come on until i let off of the brake. Man this has been alot more challenging than I thought it would be. Anyone run into this. Does anyone else get a strange buzzing noise from under that dash when you brake? The buzz has been there since i bought it new. I though it was the ABS priming or something.

@Brian Phillips

Is the buzzing a seperate issue, or something new after making electrical connections?

@Old Guy

Now kidding! They did make the upfitter and power connections very flexible for up fitters as they don't know if you have lift gates or an Ambulence. It reminds me of those toys you bought as a kid and assembled (but Lego had really good instructions).

Something I had original overlooked when making Upfitter power connection (Vehicles built after June 2016).

The Hella 12V 30A YPN # 7293-2123 is the part i've desperately been searching for!!! It is the 2 pin relay bridge and goes in Relay 6 of the Upgraded Auxiliary Fuse
Panel and makes switches Aux switches 1, 2, and 3, hot/live all the time instead of ignition hot. Searching for Relay 6 in the "Body and Equipment Mounting Manual FORD TRANSIT 2015 North America" gives all the information.

Does anyone know the new part number for this 2 pin relay bridge? Searching google for the part number yields no results and my local ford dealer can't figure it out either

I have this relay and I cant for the life of me find the C1 connector in the dash that is referenced in the BEMM for R6 - It's entirely possible I am looking at the wrong BEMM for my 2019 van.

Can anyone fill me in on where this relay is installed? Under the Driver seat?

I still need to hook up my 40a supply so I'll be in there poking around tomorrow...
