The second shipment of a R2X to QuadVan has just been released at the plant for shipment to QuadVan. Like before, we will follow the trip along the railroad lines with the various passes it makes and a few stops along the way.
Here is the start of this Transit build up to this point:
2/25/19...Submitted order to Ford System
3/14/19...Scheduled to WEEK of May 13th, 2019
3/28/19...Scheduled to DAY of May 17th, 2019
5/08/19....Send to plant for start of Body Construction & online window sticker available 5/17/19....Transit produced!
5/18/19....Passed Quality Control and off to holding lot
5/20/19....Moved to holding lot awaiting shipment
Looks like the railroad may be helping you get the Transit to QuadVan a little quicker.
NOW...showing a change in the railcar on 5/23 at 12:00 CT #NS 110598 Norfolk Southern Corp with a change in ETA at QuadVan from the original June 6th to June 12th....NOW June 5th to June 7th.
Well.....it is past the 6/2 ETA arrival and it is still sitting at the Regional Distribution Center, Portland Barn.
Ford has sent out a ALERT! to see about getting the Transportation Company at this center to update the schedule for delivering the Transit to QuadVan.
This can happen to any Transit once it gets to the Regional Distribution Center near their dealer. With it being a HR model, it will have to go on a flat bed/slant bed trailer or truck so these may be backed up for deliveries.
Looks like the holdup is the local delivery company, United Road Service. They have to use a flat bed truck or trailer to get it to QuadVan. Once the Transit leaves the plant, it is in the hands of the delivery companies and they can be slow at times. Your Transit made a pretty quick trip to get to OR, then just sitting...waiting for those last few miles to get there.
Bryan, just run over to the Regional Distribution Center and tell them you can handle the rest of the delivery to QuadVan. I checked it out on the local map and is it less than 10 miles to get it there?
That is the outcome I would be looking for. Ed always coming up with solutions!!!
$69 flight is easy to speed this up. I can fly up as soon as tomorrow since I know Van Specialities is open.for me to work on the build before heading to Quadvan
Not sure they would let you in the gate and even at the holding lot at Kansas City, if we have a Transit or other Ford vehicle there they will not let us go get it. The transportation company made it difficult through the labor contracts with Ford so they have full authority over the vehicle once it is on their lot. We have a GREAT relationship with Jack Cooper and they have helped us with getting our Transits to us in the normal time frame. Even loading the HR models on the tail of the auto convoy trailers and making the first trip to Matt Ford.
I sent you a update showing NO movement from the Portland yard. You might see if John at QuadVan can call the shipping company and get them to expedite it. He may have a direct contact there who he can get to make a special delivery there.
This is a disappointing final result to a Transit finally getting to QuadVan. On May 30th, it arrived at the Portland Barn approximately 10 miles from QuadVan. Ford was telling us that United Road Service was the carrier for this Transit. After NO movement for a few days, we contacted them about the delivery. They said they would check on it and get back with us. A few DAYS later they called us and told us the did not have that van on their list and they were no longer delivering Ford vehicles. I then went to my contact in Dearborn and he told me that Ford had changed shipping contracts and they had a new delivery company. We then contacted them and they told us they did not have it on their list. Vehicle Visibility still showing the original United Road Service even though contacting them they never changed that information.
Then all kinds of calls trying to find out how to get this van 10 MILES to QuadVan even trying to see if John at QuadVan could just go get it himself. He was ready to work on it and could not get it to his place. Today the Vehicle Visibility is showing JUNE 27 as the delivery day for this van, done by the same local carrier that we have in Kansas City, Jack Cooper Transport. If Ford has told us they were the carrier originally, we could have contacted our local office and probably got it to QuadVan a lot faster.
