My wife and I bought a 15 passenger transit a little over a month ago for camping and taking to mountain bike and mx races. I started working on the floor and right in the middle got called away for work for a little under a month. I got back last Thursday and was able to finish the floor this past weekend.

The floor consists of:

1/2" polystyrene strips to level the floor
1/2" polystyrene cut to fit the entire rear footprint
1/2" marine grade plywood over the insulation
1/4" vinyl planks for durability and looks.

The floor ended up being the same thickness as the oe floor + subfloor so all of the trim panels fit back Into the factory locations without modifications.

The van is surprisingly quite a bit quieter than with the factory floor. All in all I'm happy with how it turned out, but would likely do things a little differently next time.

I still need to route out the sections where the flanged L track will sit and get bolts and spaces to anchor the L track the rear seat bracket bolt holes. Once that is done I'll begin in the height adjustable bed.

I've left myself the option to use the second and third row seats as needed. I will also likely make a folding table that snaps into a seat bracket using parts from one of the spare seats.

Looks great.

Just an FYI - I laid down similar 1/4" vinyl planks and now that its cold here they have started to sperate due to shrinkage. It is because the floor isn't truly floating. I trimmed out my floor with aluminum and every plank that has a screw thru it is having the problem. I'll have to pull the trim and notch out the vinyl so it will float correctly. I may end up pulling up the floor and redoing it after the cabinetry is in to avoid pinning it down.

The strips are glued, the rest floats. With the vinyl planks they will be able to float even once the flanged L track is installed. The heater ducting was removed and the heater will be too once I put the swiveling seat bracket on. Heating for the rear will be handled by a small rv lpg heater plumbed into the rear ac vents.

Do you have any pictures of doing the polystyrene underneath the vinyl?
I look forward to seeing the rest of it come together. I've also been thinking about using the leftover seat legs to use as table/kitchen brackets so I'm curious what you'll come up with.
