Part number help - vehicle interface connector for 2018

We have a 2018 Transit. We found Morey's helpful post about how he connected to the Engine On Signal Via Ford Transit Vehicle Interface Connector. He (and others) used a 6 way connector wiring pigtail with part number WPT-285 / 3U2Z-14S411-JBA. However, Ford changed this connector in 2018 from a 6 way to a 8 way. We tried the live chat at Ford Parts and the parts and service department where we bought our Transit. No one can help with a part number and they all seem somewhat baffled by the request. Does anyone have suggestions about how to find the part number? Thanks!

Just circling back to answer my own question.

The part number is WPT-1128 / 3U2Z-14S411-BCB.

We essentially followed Morey's post. The 8 way connector is an improvement over the 6 way for us due to a 12V line as part of the connector. We ran each CCP line through an inline fuse holder with a 50A fuse in each. These were connected to a bus bar and from the bus into a 150A breaker and on to the relay.

Our van actually had an empty connector already inserted in the harness receiver i.e. there was an 8 way connector with no wires already under the seat. We just unclipped it and used that to visually match the part when ordering one with wires coming out.

Yep you are not the first, People have been hacking that connector since 2015. I can think of a handful of other poorly named threads that cover it, it is in a build thread by a guy named "sshafer" for one.

The Morely thread.

Any place to order online? (Googling pulled up the wrong parts.)

Maybe I have to get off my axle and stop into a Ford dealership…

You may want to check for the connector in the battery bay. Everyone posting about the 8 position connector has had the empty connector waiting for them.

I don't get why you'd take the empty connector shell to match up for an overpriced pigtail. If I'd have known there was an empty one there to begin with it would have made my life a little easier.

Even if you solder or do a crappy crimp job, it's going to be way cheaper and slightly easier to use crimp on terminals in the provided shell.

How much were these terminals at the Ford dealer, or the connector with pigtail attached? The actual terminals for use in the provided connecter are only $0.14 each plus shipping from Digikey.

Yeah, I paid more for shipping than the darn terminals. Can't really complain at 14 cents a piece though.

I think we ordered it through Ford Parts Giant. It was about $25 or $30. For us, it was totally worth having a pigtail show up. We had enough of a steep learning curve with all the other electrical components that it was a relief to have something just show up that we could click in.
