C.R. Laurence Co., Inc. Windows

To All: I'm about to order my Transit and found the pop out windows are not available. So I'm looking at the Laurence windows. Does anyone know how the windows are attached? Is it better to buy the cargo van and cut new openings or get the wagon and remove the old windows? I see bolt holes in the sales book, but what if they're glued in.

I had 3 Laurence windows installed in my E-150 14 years ago. The body shop said never again. So find someone who is experienced at installing windows. The sliding type works fine and the quality of Laurence is worth the price. My windows still look good 14 years later.

I ordered the"Win All AR w/2nd Row D/P Flip" and "Privacy Glass" (to quote window sticker) late August. The Van was built a couple days ago. Double check that the Flip Out windows are really not available (or has Ford removed this option). These do not flip very far and open in aft side. Also, they apparently block much of front third (or quarter) of front windows with its frame.

I'll check again before I place the order, but I sat with the fleet guy and we went though all they options in his computer one by one and I'm pretty sure there was only the option of windows all around like you ordered, rear windows only, or rear and slider with flip out glass. I did see one last week with the flip out and it does have a pretty big frame around it when viewed from the inside. My two local upfitters Van Specialties and Outside Van both install tons of aftermarket windows, so getting them installed correctly shouldn't be a problem if I decide not to do it myself.

If you have factory windows you can not install aftermarket windows, they use a frame while factory are glued in and have a different cut out pattern.

Longboard, was that window option 17J, available on the extended length van only?

Would like to have two rows of flip-outs on the 148" WB regular length van, but it looks like that is not available.

That will still work with my plan since I'm not getting windows all around. Going to keep the factory slider window and rear windows and put one more aftermarket window behind the driver next to what will be my second row of captains chairs. CRL has done a good job of replicating the factory look on the Sprinters and Promasters, so hopefully their Transit windows will follow suit.

That's sort of like what I did with my Sprinter.
I had the dealer install OEM rear door windows as well as middle side windows, and then I had Atwood/Creation awning screened windows put in the slider and opposite side.
After seeing how poorly the dealer installed OEM cuts were made and treated, and how expensive and mediocre the aftermarkets were, I opted for factory all around with two rows of flip outs this time around.

Longboard: I was with my dealer last Saturday going through the options. We could not get the flip open windows to work in the ford system for the XLT or cargo van with windows all around? What did you order and when? I am trying to order a 130" wheel base low roof XLT or van.
