Electric brake controller

I am adding the e-brake controller. The wiring is there. Ford has flashed the ecm for it. It doesn't say it's installed on the dash and you don't what the gain is set at. Ford will not sell the trim plastic piece to mount the switch into. This is just crazy how bad this is.

It certainly is disappointing. I have the same problem except the dealer was able to order the trim parts. I've learned to live without knowing the gain setting. You would think Ford could come up with a fix for this issue. I mean it's gotta be just a software issue.

We ordered the correct part. It came without the hole and ford says you can't order it only installed at the factory

It isn't just software- someone on the site went through all this before and there is actually a different instrument cluster used with Ford OEM brake controllers to display the gain setting.

I told them I didn't want it if I couldn't set the gain. They say they won't take it back because it is an electrical part. Just crazy how this is with ford. Sell you the part. Doesn't work as advertised. Won't take it back. This may be my last ford vehicle.

i have hauled trailers for 40 years and for the first 20 years you could not see the gain at all, it was just a knob or wheel that you turned under the controller, if you only haul one trailer it is a set it and forget it kind of deal.

Well, sometimes that trailer is empty and sometimes it has 3 tons of stuff. If you leave the gain cranked up for the 3 tons when it's empty the trailer tires are gonna cry about it at every stop sign.

i was talking trailers with fixed loads on them like campers since that is what the vast majority of people tow!

Cool! Leaves more for the rest of us...
Bottom line- a little research here first would have told you this wouldn't work and dealers were idiots.
