Trailer wiring provisions option

I have a 2015 Ford Transit 150 with the $295 option "trailer light provisions".
I am trying to find the female 6 pin wiring harness to a 4 and/or 7 pin trailer light plug(s) offered through Ford.
I have a set of wires that run the length of the driver's side frame rail that end alongside the spare tire. There is a rounded rectangular plug with a protective cap that should be for plugging into to go straight to trailer light receptacles.
I am having a very hard time finding a dealer that can order the part I need.
I have pics of the plug and the plug cover.
Has anyone been able to find the part I need?
Thanks!

I am assuming that the wire run to the rear of the van along the driver's side frame rail that ends in a 6 pin plug is the provision Ford made to be able to hook to to go straight to a trailer light receptacle.

Guy,

Type in "Trailer Wiring" in the SEARCH box, there are a couple of links from members who have gone through this, with part numbers.

Post #26 on this thread has a wiring diagram including #'s.

Did you ever find the part that you need? I am trying the same thing. I have what looks like a 6 pin connector right next to the spare tire. I have called 3 dealers and they all think I need a $165 wiring kit but I am thinking that I have the towing preparation package and all I need is a short wiring harness with the 6-pin connector on one end and the 4-pin flat on the other end for my trailer. I am going to attach a picture of the connector near the spare tire.

I think you need two things:

4-Pin/7-Pin Trailer Connector / Jumper - The 4-Pin/7-Pin trailer connector is designed to attach to the Ford factory trailer hitch bar. The connector and jumper are available separately for dealer installation on vehicles with the Trailer Wiring Provision option.
 4-Pin/7-Pin Connector 9U5Z-14489-MAA (not in catalog)
 Trailer Connector Jumper CK4Z-13A576-B

Serg_zx,

Be careful. I thought all I would need was that wiring cable to plug into the one near the spare tire. So I ended up getting it from a Ford dealer. I can't remember what I paid for it but it wasn't cheap. It did not work. It turns out that the van has to be ordered with the towing package or it will be missing the Trailer Tow Module, part # CK4T-19H378-A*. Take a look at page 58 of this pdf: https://www.fleet.ford.com/truckbbas..._BEMM_v1-0.pdf My van did not have this part and it is VERY expensive. I did not need the braking signals and all that. I only needed the 4-pin flat so I ended up getting this: http://www.curtmfg.com/part/56249 Don't buy it directly from Curt though because it is too expensive. I think I bought mine from Hitch Depot: http://www.hitchdepotusa.com/catalog...result?q=56249 They only want $55.62. But look around. You may find it even cheaper. This this plugs into the rear light connectors but you do have to run a power wire up to the battery. I ran the wire underneath the van to the engine compartment where you can get it connected to a positive terminal that goes to the battery. Since mine is a passenger van, it's not easy to run it inside the van to the actual battery underneath the driver's seat. BTW, the long wire for power comes with the kit and it is long enough to reach the engine compartment from the back of the van so no problems there. Good luck! Let me know how this works out for you! Tim

I would second the word of caution. Some of those worms may not go back into the can.....

Things aren't as they seem any more with the wiring and the computers.

Corrosion

I am going to put this here to try and keep all of this in one place.

With less than 5,000 miles and 7 months on the road we lost trailer turn signals and brake lights. The brakes on the trailer still worked as did the running lights. The dealer is reporting there was corrosion on the wires and needed replaced.

I am not understanding replaceable corrosion at 5,000/6months but they have been good with their information to date.
