Bird on a Wire....

...and the wind is blowing

Don't know where to start....on purchasing day or the reason why I was in Texas Motors Ford asking about some obscure looking vehicle that I had started to see driving in front of me....

I am the caregiver to my disabled, widowed sister.....for 15 years and 4 years ago she had to go the hospital and then released to a nursing home for rehabilitation.

Every care meeting we keep stating that the goal is for her to come home. After 4 years of lying in a bed, she can no longer transfer into my truck. (1997 Ford F150)

Then, boom....SSDI drops a HUGE lump sum back payment into her account. being in a Nursing Facility she had Medicaid and Medicare and were told needed to do a Medicaid spend down.....

No problem...bought 2015 Transit med roof, wrap around windows, pueblo gold, and checked just about every box on upgrades, front/rear ac, Radio w/sync, no seats except the front and passenger, as we bought a hoyer lift and needed room for it and the wheelchair....

Texas Motors states they can add two jumper seats...

to convert with Braunability commercial lift and clamps in floor for her wheelchair.

This was May 5th.

Was advised would take @ 4-6 weeks to build.

In July I start calling the fleet mgr....no word on the van....

August....no word
September....no word....wAiT..there is a blurb about a hold because of a "G" code....and nobody knew or could get any info on just what was a G-code

Thought it had to do with the leather seats....reordered with cloth seats...

..it went through..no holds.....wAiT....another blurb about the wrap around windows could not be put on our model......

October 5th.....CONGRATS.....it's being built.....ETA Oct 29th

October 29th...no van....oH...sorry you misunderstood....it's qued to have the order pulled , then once pulled it will be built.....no they did not know when it would be pulled....

Nov 14....CONGRATS...we have a VIN for you.....ETA Nov29th.....

..err...wAiT....it hasn't been pulled yet....new ETA Dec 29th..

Medicaid spend down deadline is Jan 15 .....

I needed a backup plan.....called Advanced Mobility who is going to handle the conversion.....when and if I get a van....but they have other vans already converted.....Dodge, Toyota, Honda....etc

Mom has an engineering background with Lockheed (retired) and she eyeballed them and stated that they weren't big enough....

I still had them come to the Nursing Home to see if wheelchair....Quantum Jazzy 1650 ...BIg chair...Big sis....would fit.....aaaaannd,,,mom was right...her head was in the ceiling....

..sooo....we are going to sit it out and wait for the Transit......hopefully the ETA Dec 29th is valid giving Advanced Mobility time to do the conversion before Medicaid demands the receipts for the spend down...

Every day I put in my VIN on the tracking order site and .....nothing...

I refuse to pull my hair out as I know what I would look like without it.....but my cuticles are getting ragged....

I'd like to say "We feel your pain", but your deadline is a bit more serious than most of ours. The story sounds typical and won't surprise most of us, but in your case you have the bureaucracy of the Federal government to deal with in conjunction with a brand new vehicle launch that has been plagued with delays for years now, coupled with a company that is deliberately failing to communicate.
I'm pi$$ed that I will spend two weeks and 4,000 miles living in my Honda Element over the holidays instead of a high & long Transit, but I'll survive.
Waiting for the closest vehicle to perfect for you and your sis's needs might end up costing you though!
Best of luck.

Rondrond, Your first indication will be the window sticker from the address below:

services.forddirect.fordvehicles.com/inventory/WindowSticker.pdf?vin=1FTNR2ZG2FKA31867
just substitute your vin at the end (this vin is for a van at a dealership in NJ I believe)

when this appears approx. 10 days before build date it will have your build date + or - a day.

I just tried the link you provided for a window sticker, I get "no such sight found".

My van was ordered on Sept 10, supposed to be built by the end of Nov..????

Ford Etis site still says 11-30-002

Dealership is still hoping for delivery by the end of Dec.

Cheers,
Dave.

Edit...Got it. Build date 20141125, transport by "convoy"
I wonder how long to Vancouver?

RedVanMan, your van should show up on ETIS soon it is usually a couple of days after it is built. Your "Sales Manager" not Sales Man or Woman. should be able give all the info available to track the shipment of your van however it is coming.
