Thumbs up Meet "Bob" from sunny California!

Hi guys!

I am a happy owner of a new Transit 150 XLT passenger van (10 seater). My wife will drive Bob around most of times with our 5 kids.

My kids named it "Bob" (after Bob the Tomato from Veggie Tales). Yes, it's a red color!

We had the car for a little over a week and we are loving it. Can't wait to take it out for a family trip!

What you don't see in this picture is 2 more babies who are in the car in baby seats.

Yes, when our family grew to have 5 kids, we decided it's probably better to go for full size van than a mini van. It was very timely to have Ford to release Transit in the US. We did have to wait few months for the car to actually arrive from the time we placed an order but it was worth it!

I do wish there was better info available about the seating arrangement. When I was placing an order, I had to do my own google search to get some idea about it. Kinda wish I went for regular 12 seats even if it's a bit crowded. current setting is perfect for our family and enough to take grandparents around at the same time. But few seats short of having other family with us (only works if they have only one kid).

Styling is alright I guess. I actually like the previous gen's more angular look much better (never made to the US). But I love how easy it is to drive Bob around.

EcoBoost V6 engine is surprisingly responsive and gas mileage is very decent considering the size of the car.

Here is my quick review.

<Likes>
*Really really easy and comfortable to drive around. My wife got used to it almost immediately.
*Feels really powerful! We have no problem going up hill!!!
*Gas mileage is on the good side. official average MPG says 16~19 (city~freeway). We've been averaging more of 12~15.
*Seating arrangement and individual seat belts are great.

<Dislikes>
(Not major problems. More of personal preference)
*Rear Swingdoor creates a huge blind spot. I wish I can leave the rear camera on when I drive (is there such function?)
*Can't take out rear seats (except the last row)
*Rear seat positions are not adjustable
*Rear seats are not that comfortable.
*Floor mats not available (yet)
*Matching body color bumpers and sides not available
*No manual gear option

Congrats!!!

I remember those days, hauling kids around. I had a Ford Aerostar. It was actually a really nice family vehicle. Plenty of room for 7 and good mileage.

Cool, another ridiculously large family!! Our family has 6 boys as of last month, so we have maxed out seating in our Odyssey. This is why I am now lurking around here.

We are debating on the 10 passenger or going up to the 148" WB and getting 12 seats incase we need to haul our kids and their friends.

I usually don't care for red but I think it looks great on this van with the black numbers and such. I would be interested on how some black stylish rims would look like on it.

Btw, I also get a good chuckle out of your avatar... I remember mike Tyson's punch! Did you customize that yourself?

Yup, I did a little pixel art to put myself in it.

I have friends who have 4~5 kids. They usually drive around in minivans. I myself was considering Honda Odyssey or the new Kia Sedona (it looks nice!... can't believe I am saying it about minivan). But one thing I noticed about my friends were that their vans were always loaded to the max. And as their kids grow older, it was just getting way to squeezed.

I wanted to have something that is a bit more relaxing. So it really worked out great for our family to go with full size van.

I too was looking at the mini vans.. Since I'm single and only have one child I would catch heck for saying I wanted to own one. But vans just make sense. In my crew cab I feel cramped. I would tell them that I wanted a ride that I could camp/sleep in. Then they would ask" so what's a date to think about you pickinging them up in your van with a mattress already in back?" I be like" to, if they don't mind the smell of chloroform, they won't be alarmed my a little ol' matris!"

Any way vans for some just makes sense and you have a pretty, not so wee, family hauler.
Keep us posted on any bling or upgrades as you go
