Pointless Motor Trend story has Transit as #1

Found this pretty amusing. 20 Slowest 0-60 times. Transit HD 3.2 was the slowest vehicle they tested in 2015. I guess a 170" Dually Sprinter with the 2.1 wasn't tested in 2015, because there's is no way it's quicker than a 3.2 Transit.

RIP Lemmy. Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

All things considered, that's not too bad actually, compared to the other vehicles on the list and it's only @ 1 second slower than those. Besides the F450 HD you could fit one or more of those vehicles in the Transit. Apparently there was a lot of vehicles not tested!

15' Tuxedo Black Metallic T350, 3.5L Ecoboost, 3.31, LWB, MR Cargo, with 5% tint rear 20% front doors and 50% ceramic tint on windshield and a 20% sun strip.

Well ya know...some just can't get from one red light to the next fast enough.

I'd put a TRUMP bumper sticker on it, but I'm quite certain it would be vandalized.

"The Transit 350 HDs 3.2-liter inline-5 turbodiesel is strong enough for the job but is tuned for hauling, not racing duty."

Well...DUH!

Towing my 3500 lb travel trailer I'm getting a good 50% better fuel economy than the 4.0L Toyota V6 it replaced and it downshifts maybe 10% as often, I'll take that any day
Zymurgy and Duster like this.

"Beluga" 2015 350HD 3.2D, 3.73, EL, HR.

I had to laugh derisively - "but don't expect to get from point A to point B in a hurry".

Oh noes!!! I can only do 0-60 in 12.8 seconds! I'll be a whole eight seconds behind the car that can get there in 4.8 seconds!!!

Really?!? It'll do the legal speed limits - and even a bit more if you're so inclined - all day long just like any other car. Like its 0-60 time has anything to do with being "late" to your destination - unless your destination is at the other end of a 1/4 mile track, a place I'm sure many will be headed to with their diesel Transits!

2016 T250 LWB HR 3.5EB 3.31LS Most all the bells & whistles...

Got VIN: 08 Feb 2016
Window sticker: 25 Mar 2016

Maybe it'll haul a race car to the track, but it ain't going down the 1/4 mile.

Garage
Some folks live in an area where traffic is such that they need that quick acceleration to safely get into and drive with traffic.

Personally, if I lived where traffic was that bad, I wouldn't live there. (That's my Yogi Berra impersonation. Stay tuned for my Yogi bear impersonation, Boo Boo.)

I've seen that vid before. Awesome. Look how flat the Tranny corners with the DRW and monster rear sway bar. It even cocks an inside rear wheel on corner entrance. It's like a giant MK 2 GTI!! Makes me think I'm on to something when thinking about the dually fender flares and widening some stock steelies.

Once again, lusting after that 6-speed stick.

It took about 10 years for someone to start importing manual transmissions for T1N Sprinters and offer conversions. 5g's on a decade old van was a little steep for me. That's one trip to the Mercedes dealership.

RIP Lemmy. Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.
