count me in. I have chips as well and told the dealer about it. I was fine with at first but it seems that more are appearing . the clearances look fine but the door does not latch sometimes at the rear and stays popped out. I have an appointment with the dealer to check door alignment and they ordered touch up paint.

I have decided that internal air pressure is at fault for slider aft side not closing. I too have seen this. I makes you want to push the back side of the door in while closing, which may increase chance of contact between back of door and body. When another door is still open, the slider always closes just fine for me (with what I feel is the same slider speed/force).

The "good news" side of this is it means that that all the weatherstripping is working. My old Econoline had a similar problem, so I would often leave one window cracked open all the time, usually one of the side windows (which were hinged on the top back then).

If air pressure is the problem, you might consider a floor air vent. I will have one to get natural air circulation from the hole in the floor up past the refrigerator coil and out the Maxxair fan opening. Worked very well in Sprinter to reduce the interior temperature. Would not require a window to be open.

I've noticed the same thing. I open the passenger door now before closing the slider. My Subaru is the same way with the rear hatch. I guess the seals are really good on these newer cars.

Aside from the paint, I have a long list of random electrical glitches. Stereo doing random things like refusing to turn off even after I have left the vehicle and locked it, doors locking randomly - including the other morning when I had started it to defrost then gone back inside, that one was fun.., another time in the lowes parking lot the lock mechanism just started engaging over and over, with a beep for each one, what a racket... The stereo has reset to factory a couple of times for no reason I can find, sometimes the interior light won't turn off. There's more but... of course none of this is consistent so the dealer can't fix it, so they say... Might all be a single problem with the computer, but they can't find it whatever it is. Several rattles in the dash, which have been there since it was picked up. E-brake was misadjusted off the lot. Problems with the key cylinder that make it extremely cranky to get the key in some times, and in one case prevented me from shutting the engine off for about 5 minutes. And then of course the whole sync system, which is worth books by itself. Enough I am getting pretty annoyed. When its not acting up, I do like it a lot (power, room, comfort, noise levels all great), but man, this is my first foray back into the big 3 for about 25 years (working in pre-delivery inspection for GM and Ford for a summer pretty much soured me...). Quality control seems to be not where it should be yet, at least with this, I've had more initial build trouble with this van already than with all of my previous 5 vehicles put together, and I've only had it a few weeks.

Thanks for the info...I haven't pulled the trigger yet but probably will soon...not getting the sync but there are still a lot of other issues you mention.

I'm with you re the big 3, haven't been there since the 80s, but in this niche the only big Japanese van I can get in gas is the Nissan NV, and with the mileage those things get I'm not to excited about the NV. Plus it is pretty ugly.

Try cleaning the door electrical contacts. Having a high resistance connection could cause one or two of your issues.

I noticed mine a little over a month ago....it is expecially noticeable on the sliding door "angles". Anything with a point/edge is chipped....and it is getting noticeably worse....it was how I came to find this article! Thanks Max....I will take my van to the Ford dealer I bought it at and log a complaint. I counted over 10 separate chips.....on back edge of the door mostly. These are not factory.....these are happening post possession. Door alignment is my guess.
