I have had the same issue from the beginning. Noise is only at slow speeds. Have not spent any time trying to fix it.

Now that I have about 2/3rds of the conversion done, I expect the dealer to blame what I have added for the noise.

RATTLE-my theory

This is my theory on the rattle in the slider....I have not been able to qualify it, but it's been bugging me for a year.
I've seen photos of the lower panel removed. There is a mylar film that helps seal the inner cavity. I believe the rattle is the mylar sheet (which is taught) vibrates at certain frequency causing this rattle...and usually only between 5 and 10 miles per hour...
This has become a lesser issue as I build the van because each component causes new squeaks and rattles that I then have to troubleshoot....
what do you all think? At some point I will get to it to see if that's the culprit

I think I'd be amazed if it was the barrier film, and completely comfortable assuming one of the 28 dimensional adjustments to the slider is out of spec.

Count me in on the rattle. I found this thread searching for solutions.

Mine is at most speeds, small bumps not big ones. And it is only about 25% of the time, and often goes away after X amount of time/miles. Sometimes persists. Sometimes comes back when I've used the slider, sometimes not. Most perplexing. Sounds like a loose piece of hard plastic hitting the sheet metal.

I'll have someone stand up and try to pinpoint the location soon, my best guess from the driver seat is the upper back corner of the sliding door, like others mentioned.

in my case, the rattle could be reproduced by simply pushing on the upper rear corner of the door, even when the van was stationary, which caused the rubber bumper to move, perhaps moving out of contact with the door. a piece of blue masking tape in the contact area (i.e., on the door, where the rubber bumper hits) has solved my rattle. (i can easily believe there are many other causes of rattle, though.) (it's very hard to see the spot where the tape goes in normal use of the van, which is why my solution is still the tape, several months after applying it.)

My wagon slider door started rattling about a week ago, at 1600 miles. I have taken the trim panel off and added Thinsulate but that was a month ago. I shot a video of the rattle noise. Is this what you're hearing?

Hey guys, new to the forum here.

Can anyone who successfully fixed the slider rattle using tape please post a photo? I tried putting painters tape where the bumper contacts the back left upper corner of the slider, as it sounds like this is where the noise is coming from. No luck; I'm thinking I may cut up some old bike innertube and sandwich that between some tape to create a bigger improvised bumper.

I've got ~3500 miles on my 2016 T250 MR cargo and this noise is starting to drive me nuts! It only started about 1k miles ago. Usually starts at low speeds (5-10), and the rougher the road the more annoying it gets. Never really lets down even at highway speed. I've taken it into the dealership and the body shop guy claimed he'd never heard of the issue, but changed a couple of the retaining clips in the upper (roof) weatherstrip at the top of the sliding door. This hasn't helped, and I'm more inclined to think that the rattle is hardware or alignment related, especially since it did not occur when the van was new. I may schedule an actual service appointment and see what they can do for me.

Side note: I have not tried to remove the wall paneling yet, but it doesn't sound like that has worked for anyone anyways.

Thanks!

that was me that originally described that fix.

i think there are a lot of different rattles from the door -- yours may be different than mine was. i was able to recreate the sound while the van was stationary. standing inside the van, with the slider closed, if i pushed on the door near that upper rear corner, i'd get a soft "tick" sound, which i think must have been the bumper unsticking from the painted surface opposite. a piece of tape fixed the problem. i should also note that mine made the sound in the dealer's parking lot, so i had it from day 0. i don't know if it still does it -- i've never removed the tape to find out.

i definitely recommend trying to recreate your sound while the van's not moving. and also trying to pinpoint it while someone else drives.

My noise was coming from around the interior door handle. sounded like one of the clips would back out over time and rattle really bad. Then I installed a plastic grab handle there so it pushed the plastic tight against the metal. No more rattle.

Then, another rattle sounds like it's coming from the top right of the door. I pulled all the plastic trim and added Hush Mat to the metal. Rattle came back. So now I've added a small piece of Hush Mat to where the rubber bumper sits against the door. I will report back.

If it works, I'm happy to send some members a small square of the sound deadening material. I have some scraps left over.

Well, the rattle in the upper rear corner of the slider is back. Seems to happen in the morning when the temperature is cool?
