I never thought of that. I see now the antenna is just slightly higher than the roof line on my low roof.

I received the 1/4-20 x 6mm adapter stud yesterday from Amazon.

It almost works perfectly, but not quite. The problem is the 1/4-20 threads (on the left side in the photo) don't run up far enough so the threads bottom before the antenna seats properly.

I ended up running a 1/4-20 down it to extend the threads, that fixed it.

I have searched for a better one to use but can't find any, amazing.

The easiest was the cheesy way I did it the first time, just running a 1/4-20 over the threads on one of the adapters then sent me. That worked but the thread engagement wasn't as good as it should be.

Anyway, it's all good now but I don't have a "drop in" adapter to suggest at the moment. I'll keep looking.

It needs to be close coupled and look like this one (this is 1/4-28 x 6mm, close but no cigar).

Update: Ok guy got home late and got my new antenna. So excited I installed it right away also put the oring. He included the right stud and Fits perfectly. It was free of charge. Great seller. Just mention its for Transit. I have a better signal than my old one and its 100x way better...

That was always a plus to the antenna on my Chevy 3500 Express. It was about 2" higher than the roof line. It, in fact, saved me from damaging the vehicle on one occasion.

Hi,
On my medium roof 2016 XLT wagon, I actually added a 12" long piece of white 1/4" P Tex plastic tubing to extend length of antenna to serve as a warning in potential low clearance parking area.
The p Tex slide over the tip of OEM antenna and I secured it with shrink tubing from Frys Electronis. Then to stiffen the base and reduce flex at fry way speed, I cut aff about 7" end of plastic black funnel so it fits snug over base of antenna. Secured that also with shrink tubing.

At least I am not alone.

One recent improvement was my discarding of my cell phone. It is amazing how nice it is to not be tethered to one. Just go about life without any interruptions. No one bothers you.
