Time-out gentlemen.

The OP review is balanced and fair. It is an open-eyed look at the pros and cons of a new vehicle based on direct ownership experience, and feed-back from multiple owners on this site.

Take from it what you will, but bashing it or extoling its many virtues as if it has no faults is of dubious value.

I think you have been very calm dealing with the problems you have had with your Transit. I am sure I would be less tolerant of Ford.

All vehicles have positives and negatives but your negatives should be addressed by Ford which they have not done.

We all know there is additional risk buying a brand new design vehicle and some/most of the shortcomings will be resolved over time.

Agreed Dave.

I stand behind my flawed Transit as still the best choice for my conversion.

But you have picked up on the crux of the problem: Ford is NOT standing behind my Transit.

I did not want my previous problems to taint my review. I apologise if that has happened.

2016 Transit 150 Cargo

Mine has not had any of the problems that others in the forum have mentioned. I might be just lucky or the few others are the unlucky ones with "Friday built" vehicles. Smooth idle, no problems on bumpy roads or the freeway. Extream power with the EB in my 7300 pound rig with all the compartments and tools that I carry. There are some minor points that will be addressed in the 2017 model like the poor design of the center console for access to the rear and the need to mount equiment like 2 way radios and computers. I modifed the sliding door with a stop that positions the door about a foot forward, changed the halogen cargo lights to LED, added my own back up cameras up high on the rear and one on the passenger side to look down parking lot aisles, added some LED driving lights to the front and additional LED backup lamps to give more light to sides when backing. Overall, this is the best van I have had for the past 43 years- all ford products.

In my opinion, in no way did you "taint" your review. It was a detailed and very fair vehicle review based on your ownership experience so far. I was actually very surprised that you were able to keep the difficulties you have had with Ford out of it, for so much of the post. Despite how patient you have been with the way they have dealt with your troubled front end, I did not expect you to be so kind and impartial in your review.
Personally, I think such a driver review is a legitimate place to identify all the negatives you have experienced, along with the positives.
You showed great restraint!

Honest, fair review, and I agree with all of what you said.

I also have the 3.5EB (148 MR), and I have this issue. It hasn't gotten annoying yet, but is definitely noticeable if you're paying attention. Otherwise, quiet and well-performing van imho. If you discover a fix to the drone, lemme know. I'm hoping more insulation will dampen it.

Thanks for your feedback. I still notice the drone, but less so since I finished covering my interior ceiling with insulation and 3\16" ply.

The Transit gets lots of accolades because it is a significant improvement over its ancient predecessor, the E series.

However, as a stand-alone achievement in modern automotive technology, it is really quite ordinary and leaves lots of room for improvement.
