My new van/motorcycle hauler is at home.

I picked my new van up a few weeks ago. It is a mid roof, 148" cargo. The main purpose it to haul my dirt/dual sport motorcycles. I will also use it for light camping when motels are to costly or not available.

Not done, but have a start... I use a piece of 3/4"plywood to mount my bike shoe. The bike shoe clamps to the front tire and holds the bike without hold down straps. I made it as wide as the van inside, I cut it to fit around the bracing so it could not slide back or forth. This also keeps me from drilling holes thru the floor, and it can be removed in less than a minute. A carpet wrap finishes it off...

Here is a few pictures, more to come as this project is ongoing.

Thanks Smitty

Great pictures and information. I am going to copy you. I am getting the wagon and taking out seats so I can carry my son, mother and motorcycles. I do not want anything permanent so I can put seats in when I need to carry more passengers so I love the way you did it. Thanks.

smitty141, nice going to try the same thing but I plan on putting some Captains chairs in the back. Any idea how many inches it is from the front of your tire mount to the rear doors. I'm trying to get the bike in without taking out the seats. Thanks for any help
Bill

I use my transit for the same thing. 8 seater wagon. I pull the back seat out when not needed and my bike fits nicely. I use the seat mounting points for tie down straps to the pegs.

My Wagon is another example of the low roof 130" WB being a good mixed-use vehicle. [8-passenger seating with rear bench seat removed]

I haven't got much interior work done yet due to recovery from surgery this winter, but that is the plan for the fall. Some of the notes in the post linked below may answer questions raised here.

Enjoy the rest of the summer!

XLT Wagon ordered

2015 XLT 150 Wagon, 3.5EB/3.31LS, 130" WB, low roof, 8-passenger, full trailer tow incl. brake controller, ordered 12/14, delivered 4/20.

I'm south of the St. Louis area... Not to far from St. Joe off-road park.
