Small pleasant factoid

Yesterday I learned something new about the Transit.

My windshield wiper fluid light came on. In my garage I had 3 partial bottles from the past and was about to blend them, but one was orange, one was blue, and one was green. It just didn't seem right to do that, so I bought another gallon of wiper fluid. In all my past vehicles, as evidenced by the partial bottles, the reservoir was less than a gallon and I'd end up with a partial bottle that I just can't throw away.

Not in the Transit. It took the whole bottle! I like that.

That is nice.

My '99 Audi can suck down well over a gallon. Was very surprising the first time, as the reservoir that you can see (and fill into) is rather small. It looks like maybe 1 quart in size. But at the bottom it has a feed hose connected to the main reservoir that is tucked in underneath the headlight bucket and other things, well out of sight.

As an aside, I've come to really like Rain-X fluid. Works well enough for de-icings and bug cleaning, but also leaves the classic Rain-X sheen so that I don't have to use my wipers when driving at speed (>45mph) in the rain.

My 80 Saab would hold a gallon plus. The Swedes knew how to build a car for winter climates. Still miss the center cold air vent. You could crank the heat and defrost all the way and the center vent could still direct cold air to your face to help keep you alert.
