Do I have REAR A/C in my Transit LWB, Low Roof XLT Wagon? Dealer doesn't know...

Can anyone help me determine if my order contains "rear" A/C? I had assumed a "loaded" Low-roof, Long, XLT Wagon would have such, but now I am reading (cannot recall which post) that someone actually ordered an XLT low roof "without" rear A/C. This has me worried because the wife and kids will boot me out of the house if I come home with our "new transportation" here in Texas that doesn't have A/C in the rear. I contacted the dealer who states that this "manual A/C" is the only option for such vehicle. According to the Order Guide (57G)and my Order Quote (having the option 57B), these aren't the same.

If this order does not look like it has rear A/C, then I will have to cancel the order. Can anyone provide insight to the below image which references both docs? Thanks!

mhnatt, you may be referring to my order, in which I did say "No rear A/C" -- which (only) meant that I did not intentionally order Rear A/C as a separate line item. My Order Confirmation has the same 57B Manual A/C NC. I also ordered an XLT low roof wagon, but in the 130" WB, which should not make a difference IMO.

So, to untangle this . . .

First, the Order Guide you reproduced with the 57G line item appears (to me) to be an old one (was it dated at the source?).

I have a hard copy of the 11/1/14 dealer Order Guide, and the line for the 57G A/C (on p. 7) now includes the language (which I had not noticed when I placed my order): "Standard All Wagons Except Low Roof Regular Wheelbase RWB XL Trim (K1Z/K1Y with 301A)." [This exception does not apply to my order IMO.]

So, why does my order confirmation have 57B A/C, if 57G is supposed to be standard with my XLT build? Not sure. [Edit -- Could it be ( . . . stranger things have happened . . . ) that I will be getting the 57G A/C, but that it is not set out as a separate line item because it is automatically included in the XLT?]

I read recently here that there is an 11/15/14 version of the dealer Order Guide, but it is my understanding that none of these Order Guides are available online (except for the early one you posted). You will have to check with your dealer I guess. He or she should be able to give you a hard copy of the latest Order Guide.

Sorry not to have a complete answer for you. This roll-out has its share of information gaps, inconsistencies, and SNAFU's, yes indeed.

[As one sales rep. was quoted here, as to when an ordered Transit was going to be delivered: [from memory] "I will let you know your delivery date when I see your Transit through my window, sitting on our lot."]

Good luck,

Peter

PS -- My order (listed manually from my dealer printout -- I have not received an electronic copy via email yet):

XLT Wagon ordered

PS2 -- Edit -- I live in the NE so don't need the A/C the way you and your family do. Plus, I was hoping to avoid the Rear A/C "Hump" at the left rear of the Wagon (as pictured here in various threads) because I am planning on removing the rear bench seat for a small DIY sleeping area and tool/camping equipment storage in the back.

Thank you PeterR,

From your writing, I would gamble that the 57B is front and rear since it is included in all but the smaller, lesser equipped wagon. Still, the order is vague and I will try to stop by the dealer tomorrow while in Houston.

PS - I envy the lack of need for rear AC being in NE!

I received my T250 Yesterday. I ordered rear AC and it was not in the vehicle when it arrived. Dealer has no answer for why my special ordered vehicle I waited 6 months for is incorrect. I am really disappointed in Ford dealers not knowing anything and this experience in general.

Whoa, will the dealer retrofit rear A/C? Are you able to pull up the order and look at the order code? Is it 57G or 57B? This is crazy.

Yes it is crazy. The dealer said they have never had the factory make a change and not call or anything. He said the package was unavailable in my set up. He then proceeded to tell me all they had to do was change from a vinyl floor to a non vinyl for it to be accepted as ordered. This is going to be a mobile showroom so I wanted the ac and pretty headliner, now Im stuck making headliner, lighting and a duct/fan to run ac to rear. I did get about another 1650. off price tho.

So did you get the heavy duty vinyl floor? On mine he had to do carpet to get it to accept a van with rear AC. He thought that meant for the front only. I don't mind carpet there but in the back on want something I can clean easier.

Headliner was going to be a nice bonus too.

Just got my window sticker, can't tell much about rear AC except is on the sticker.

Star gazer your window sticker is like mine, says carpet front. My dealer told me they were going to have to install the rubber floor at the dealership. Hopefully I will find out next week when it's suppose to be delivered.

Well 1stford your response tells me what I needed to know about ordering the premium package and rear AC. No one could tell me if the rubber floor would be installed at the factory or just left out. Let me know if it's going to be shipped with the van or to the dealer. I need to make sure that it gets to Explorer Van for them to use in the conversion.
