Skid Plates

Does any have any leads on skid plates or other undercarriage protection? I have a 2015 130 WB Wagon. Thanks!

We are working on front skid plate the will cover the lower portion on the intercooler, the pipes, oil pan and all the way back to the end of the front suspension subframe. I will post up pictures when it is mounted up. Shooting for early May to have the prototype installed.

Uneducated question: will it clear Quigley 4x4 front end mods?

yay! I'd be interested in a skid plate too, though my current location tends to make things cost prohibitive to ship (Alaska).

I, too, am interested in an intercooler/induction plumbing protection solution. If a front tow point (hook, shackle, etc.) can be incorporated that would be even better. The tow point doesn't need to be convenient -- I don't plan on using it often -- just solid.

Whoever designs this needs to be mindful of the cooling airflow over the various heat exchangers.

Best,

--Frank

This will be the difficult part. We plan to make the skid plate easy to remove the portion that protects the oil filter. Adding a hole large enough to change the oil filter will take away a large area of protection the van is lacking.

If you include a front tow point, I'll take one just for that feature. It's something that is really lacking in the Transit design.

I have nice one on my focus. You undo 2 large bolts and the whole thing slides off. Easier then undoing all the star screws to take off the stock protective cover. It maybe hard to figure out how to mount it strong enough for a tow hook. Then again the focus and transit are very different vehicles

4-bolt attachment for total removal when changing oil, which only happens twice a year for most people, would work. I'd say a bolt-on cover over the drain and filter spots, but that's a lot of extra work when making something.

I have to remove the big plastic cover from the bottom of our Passat when I change the oil, and that's pretty common in cars these days.
