Ford Data recorder for transmission

Months ago I filled out a ford survey and mentioned how good the EB3.5 was but how it had a couple vibration areas as well mentioned about how sometimes under certain circumstances the transmission downshifts with a thud that's alarming and made me worry about long term reliability. on 2-19-16 two ford engineers called me to discuss what was happening and they were mostly interested in the sudden downshift thud that seems to only happen when you slow, not stop, then turn sharply uphill. This probably does not happen to everyone but its very hilly where I live and this is a regular occurrence here. the conversation lasted about 15 mins I told them how I buy a new car almost every year for the last 15 years and every one has a survey but this was the first one that anyone from the manufacturer had contacted me in response. I also told them how I am impressed with the engine and how it reminds me of my BMW 3.0 inline 6 turbo save the 43 MPH vibration under acceleration. they asked if they could put a data recorder on my van for a week or so and hit a button when something happens with a 30 second before or after parameter, I agreed. last monday 2-29-16, My local dealership asked me to drop by so they could put the recorder on my truck. I have been driving it around and hit the "Jeopardy button" probably over 30 times now. Tomorrow is one week with the devise on.

I don't have that exact condition, but similar. When accelerating at slow speeds uphill after a turn, the transmission does not want to downshift until I slow to a near stop or nearly floor it.

There's a driveway I pull into it often and it's slightly uphill, so I slow down to near stop, turn right, and I'm immediately angled uphill and tap the gas to get about 15 feet and I've noticed that clunk there also. Only place I go uphill but I have heard it. I figured it's the u joints.

I hope its not the U-joints, they shouldn't have that much play in them. But if you're right and it's that my concerns about long term still stand, I have noticed though the tach jumps right as the thud happens so I still think its a transmission issue. Oddly since I have had the recorder on I have forced myself to make it happen. My truck has retrained me on how I drive up steep driveways!
