Just use a metal rod and two ubolts to push the slider down.

I wondered about getting the handle and cable from a wagon, tried looking it up on a couple of the Ford parts sites. I can find a diagram of the internal bits but haven't found the parts. The way things are labeled it appears the handle under the window and the cable that attaches it to the lever near the bottom are two separate parts.

The partial number I found for the handle - when I finally spotted it in the listing (search said it didn't exist!) was for a slider door handle.

I don't know how to read their diagrams, but the impression I got for the cable is it is part of an "assembly" of the lock and other cables.

At any rate, if the prices I saw for similar things is any indication it would probably run about $80-100 to get the parts from Ford - IF they're available individually!

One thought is if I can find out what part numbers they are I may just have the dealer order them ahead of time - along with a couple of the keyless entry pads and the roof rack - so I can pick them up when I get the van.

Of course, if you do this please let us know how it works.

I really like the idea joefromga came up with...stout and easy. Just figure how to keep it from rattling around back there if it's permanent.

I'd put a TRUMP bumper sticker on it, but I'm quite certain it would be vandalized.

Felt pad on the inside of the ubolts or bushings or whatever you use. You can get them for furniture sliders at the Depot.

My 2016 Transit has a rear door opener and I have no problem at all getting out the back from the inside. I did not have to add anything except a handle to close the door from the inside.

Ford Transit Med and High roof Rear door inside ltch

Hey, we have been hearing about this issue from most of our clients
complaining about this.

the van user/operator has to bend down to be able to access the oem door open latch/lever.

i can suggest a system that we have developed that anyone can install easily and without interfering with the normal operation or any oem inner components inside the door frame.
Usually takes about half hour to install.

if any of you are interested let me know and i can get you some more information.
