Transit Diesel to be EPA Re-Tested?

In an article this morning on Green Car Reports, an insider has said the EPA is going to retest "every single diesel passenger vehicle now on the market".

Because the Transit is sold in a passenger wagon variant, it's diesel would likely be included in re testing.

This is starting to get interesting. This might shed some light on why the Promaster is not offered in a passenger variant. It's diesel will not be subject to the same passenger emission standards.

Not to hijack a thread in the Transit forum, but you might be on to something! I bought my 2015 PM 118" Diesel in Arizona and drove back to So Cal. To get it registered the DMV needed it weighed and Smog Tested. The local smog shop hooked it up and it took only 20 seconds to pass. I thought that was rather fast and he stated that these new Diesels test quickly. Anyways food for thought!

Bet you get great MPG with that 118"/diesel combo!!! Where I live in Canada diesel fuel sells for about 20c per gallon less than gas. VW TDIs sell well here. or at least they used to!

I average 24/25 mpg's and I just filled up for $2.47 a gallon. Not sure how long this will last, but I'am loving it now.

FWIW I think the diesel PM has the potential to run for a long time and hold its value.

Been paying as low as 2.09 in SC.
Rest assured when cold weather really hits diesel will jump way up due to home heating oil demand. Happens every year.
Wish it was legal to have a 1000 gallon tank at home..stock up when cheap.

Wow!! $2.09 for diesel in SC, that's awesome. So Cal has so many regulations and taxes that add to the cost of goods. If I did not surf I would not live in Cali!!!

I think any Fiat is a risk not worth taking.
