E-mail I received from Quigley on 7/30 about their 4x4 Transit

Here is an e-mail I received from Quigley regarding their 4x4 system for the Transit. AI've also attached the spec sheet he sent.

XXXXX,

We have completed the engineering on all of the Transit engines! The 3.7 conversion will be $11,995 while the 3.2 and the 3.5 will be $12,495. Attached is a spec sheet as well as several photos that may be of interest. Also, here is a video of our adventure in this year’s Easter Jeep Safari out in Moab, UT. What a hoot! http://truckyeah.jalopnik.com/check-...ing-1702037048 .

Give us a call if you would like to jabber jaw awhile about stuff.

Happy Trails,

Larry

Larry is a quite nice fellow,...gave me a tour of the Quigley factory (very family orientated). My Transit is there,...drove it over last week, after a SNAFU with Ford failed to drop ship it (88DZ02).

In essence, the 3.5L gets a Raptor independent suspension,...mostly Ford parts are used, with warrantee by Ford. The extra cost (vs the Chevy) is that the Transit must be lifted 2" because of the design,...nice to have the extra clearance,...and doesn't look aesthetically unpleasing as the Sprinter electronically simulated 4x4.

For me,...a 4x4 is a must have,...primarily for the snowy mountain roads I use regularly. I'm not an "off-roader",...but I do plan on driving this up the McKenzie Ice Road.

The red Transit from the Moab video has undergone some changes,...an in-house built front and rear bumper guard, and they switched tires, from the 235/85/16 as seen in Moab, to a 245/75/16. Unfortunately, the red van was up,...so, although it was nice looking underneath,...didn't get to see how they looked on the ground.

When I pick mine up,...I'll surely bring a camera.

PS....some dealers, like in Oregon, order the Quigley upgrade in bulk and sell them off their lots. Larry said the largest is Maplecrest Ford in NJ,...who have 50 Transit on order. I talked to Maplecrest, and they had several MR's to sell at invoice,...but not the color I wanted.

When will your 4x4 conversion be complete?

There is already a problem (an annoyance) with moving from the driver's seat to the cargo area.
Does anybody know if the location of the manual shift makes moving to the cargo area even more difficult?

JAD,

If I remember correctly from last year, the Quigley rep advised that the shift lever could be easily detached and set beside the seat for when you might next need to use it, clearing the way.

Complete? End of August,...I'll have a firmer date the middle of the month. There are ALOT of vehicles waiting,...and I heard that many more are coming in. I saw a recently received shipment of Ford kits in stock on multiple palates.

As for the 4x4 high/low shifter,...it does prevent a driver seat swivel,...however, being on the side of the driver seat does not appear to restrict access to the rear of the van. Because of what I plan to build behind the driver seat, hadn't planned on a driver side swivel anyway.

In Oregon mentioned above, it's Newberg Ford,...in NM., Lucas Ford handles Quigley. So, as I mentioned, these are, and will be, available at dealers.

JAD,
Found my notes. At the time I was inquiring, it is a threaded shaft that is easily removed when not needed, while actually driving. Even with a transfer seat, it can be removed while entering and put back while driving, or left out except for winter driving months.

I quick call should confirm this is still the same.
