Side Cargo Door Won't Stay Open on Hill

Just got my new Transit 150. I generally like it. But to my complete horror, I'm discovering that there is no locking mechanism to keep the side sliding cargo door open on a slight hill. I park on a sloped driveway, and on even just a slight downhill tilt, the cargo door slides down the track and falls closed. There's no way or mechanism that I can see to keep it fully open and secured into place.

Am I missing something here?

For $30,000+ I sure hope so. Right now, I'm using bungee cords to keep it open. But this is ridiculous. Even my '06 Honda minivan can keep its side doors open on a hill.

Hopefully yours just needs an adjustment as mine stays open on a larger incline than what you show. But I still have to be careful as it is easy to bump and have it slam.

There is a latch that holds (or should hold) it open. When fully open it's necessary to pull the handle handle to release it. Yours may need tweaking or you're not fully engaging the latch. It's on the leading edge of the door at the bottom. You can see it work by pulling the handle out.

Ditto. There's a latch that holds it open when it is open fully. You have to physically then pull the latch to disengage and close the door. You have

Mine will not stay open on a downhill slope either. I'll have to look for that latch. Hope it is there! lol

Anyone have a pic of this handle deal?

.

The rubber handle shown below needs to be pulled forward on mine to release the slider so it can be pulled forward.

Just looked closer at mine, yes it has that positive catch and will not release unless either handle is pulled. Never noticed that before. The OP must need to have it adjusted or replaced.

Mine must need adjusting or etc. The latch at the bottom of the door will not engage to keep door open. When you pull the handle up on the door it will pull the cable down by the latch but nothing happens with the latch.

When the door is opened all the way it is suppose to engage the catch and it turns slightly. Make sure it is in the correct position to 'accept' the small ring. Then the cable pulls it off the ring to close the door.

the above picture of the red van, which is the drivers side sliding door btw, shows it in the open locked position. Sort of the cam type action when it engages and releases.
