With the trend in car buying becoming VAN buying.... I expect more and more colors will begin to be stored on dealer parking lots.... but for now, those white vans can be stealth for those who want that!
I hate when something I like becomes a fad. At least most of the sheep living in Homeowner Associations won't be buying taller Transits. That's sort of a natural limit on the fad direction.
hot weather is almost here, (at least in some parts of the country) you will learn to love white! (there are some guys on this forum who have painted thee roofs white because the inside of a transit can get so hot, even with the AC on!)
This is a huge turn off for my wife. I don't mind white - or at least exploring a wrap option or just living with a white one...but...it's been a hard sell to get her to want a Transit when there's a million white ones...It is literally her least favorite color for any vehicle - EVER...
I can't argue too much with her though- It's pretty lame Ford hasn't tried to appeal more to the family market and less with the fleet markets in this regard.
The HOA rules here are plain vehicles... (my wording) any work van or vehicle cannot have ANY indication of it being that... no logos, ladder racks etc. You can have them but you have to cover them when parked in residential area during non-work daylight hours. One guy had a taxi that was HIS own vehicle and his ONLY vehicle... fought the no work designations rule and that's when they came out with the cover rule.
Other HOAs are less considerate, and charge a whole lot more per month to keep you keeping the rules.
I'm moving to Colorado and criteria number one to the realtor is "No HOAs".
I realize their benefits to some people but disadvantages outweigh advantages for my lifestyle. They'd make me get rid of the refrigerator on my lawn and hide my cars up on blocks.
re: OP
I didn't realize Ford even made Transits in colors other than white.
Custom ordering your van lets you get the color you want as well as the options you want. For me it was the only way to go. I have a high roof in Magnetic Mettalic and even though I live in AZ and I've seen the debates back and forth over darker color vans being hotter. I don't regret getting the darker color for a second. I still love it. It's a cargo van with all around windows so when parked it just looks like a passenger van. I think having some color to the van definitely is an upgrade from the work van look.
If you have a house in an HOA you need to sell that thing immediately and just live in the van.
I almost just threw up in mouth a little bit, thinking about living in an HOA community.
But, I understand why they exist. Keep out the rif raff like me! haha
