Replacement of side mirror

I had an incident yesterday where I had my drivers side mirror hit by another vehicle on a narrow bridge. The lower mirror was broken and the outer housing is also cracked. I have a 2016 Transit with the long power mirrors w/o heat. I took it to a local Ford dealer body shop and was quoted $571 to have the mirror replaced (parts & labor). I've found numerous OEM parts sites where I can order the part in the $340 - $360 range delivered. Does anyone know how much effort would be involved to do the repair myself? On the inside of the door I see three rubber grommets that appear to cover the mounting screws but the lower one is partially covered by the interior door panel. I'm not sure how much trouble it would be to remove the plastic door panel or if it would even be necessary. Any help would be appreciated.

If you search there are some excellent write-ups on pulling the interior panel.

From the manual:

NOTE: Short arm mirror shown, long arm mirror similar.

Remove the front door interior trim panel.
Refer to: Front Door Trim Panel (501-05 Interior Trim and Ornamentation, Removal and Installation).

Remove the watershield and the fastener covers.

If equipped, disconnect the power mirror electrical connector and separate the wiring guide.

Remove the 3 exterior mounting nuts.
Torque : 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

Remove the exterior mirror.

Yeah, it's easy, I did it a couple times when trading mirrors with another member (long to short).

You don't need to unhook the door handle cable to move the panel enough to easily take off the mirrors. Just unclip the wiring.

also:

BE CAREFUL REMOVING RUBBER COVERS AND MIRROR BOLTS SO THEY DO NOT FALL DOWN INTO THE DOOR.

If you have power mirror, you MUST remove the panel to access the wiring.

Thanks for the replies. I'll probably order a new mirror and do it myself.

I saw some decent deals on ebay when I was looking to get short arm mirrors. One thing I found out, I'm pretty sure there is ONE MIRROR for all 3 heights of Transit.
