I'll be darned. I guess the slider door ajar signal does come from that slider cargo light switch. I've had my cargo light switch disconnected for months. Just went and tested, and found that I don't get a door ajar warning.

My slider door light switch also has been disconnected for months due to the stupid cargo light design. I do not get door ajar warning.

Sure is fun trying to decipher these new high tech computer systems.

I did figure out how to silence the horn and keep it from having a hissy fit for some unknown reason. Just disconnect it. Would like a horn that works when you press the horn button. I guess that is too old school.

Has anyone actually determined that Ford realizes that have an issue with the slider door on wagons with the paint chipping, & alignment? I have a gray van, same issues?

My wagon's sliding door just started intermittently sensing it is ajar when driving down the road. So far it is not frequent enough to be a problem, and so far I've not found the time to explore what needs to be adjusted.

Does anyone know what the proper fix is?

XLT wagon Silver/Charcoal, 2-12 Passenger (on any given day), alloy wheels, Ionic running boards, various modifications ongoing.

I searched the repair manual and got nothing. Assuming the rear edge of your door is flush with the body when closed: Try pushing on the switch (halfway up the rear jamb) to see how far it needs to travel to turn the door ajar warning off. Put an oring or something on the switch to see how far its getting pushed in when the door is closed. Might be a bad switch. Might need adjustment or a shim on the door. It kinda looks adjustable. A picture from a parts diagram would be nice.

My initial inspection indicates that the body shop must have knocked the pin out of the door switch, there's just a spring sticking out and it seems to be just barely contacting. If we hit a bump just right, it activates the door open warning. I will get it addressed asap.

Meanwhile put a vacuum cap on it before you lose any (more) paint on the door. Ford tries to install a contact patch to protect the door but their aim sucks. At least on mine.

My door ajar warning started going off again (and again and again).

I decided to fix it myself. So...

On Friday night I cleared out the driveway, backed the van in, and committed to spending my Saturday fixing the **** thing. Taking out the jump seat, the door panel, and the van trim...

Saturday morning about 4 am, I sat straight up in bed and eureka! I knew how to fix it.

Saturday when the morning glow started, I went to the van and for $.51 and 3 minutes of work, the problem went away. So now, I'm offering to help others with this problem. In fact, I'll help you save some money. Instead of taking your van back to the dealer, just mail me a crisp $20 bill and I'll send you the solution of how to fix yours for $.04. That's a deal!

Here is my fix...nothing fancy but it works. The sensor was not being pushed in all the way in my case so I used one of the stick paddings for wood chair legs and stuck it on where the sensor would contact the sliding door so it would push in more.
