Torque converter solenoid replaced by dealership at 45,000. Went bad again at 80,000. Dealership says too bad... Started 3 cases with Ford ...All futile !!! Vibration at 2100-2600 rpm. One year into fight...Any suggestions. Vehicle is 1.5 years old with 170,000 now !!! Vehicle born with problem yet Ford's take is tfb !

Wow.. 170,000 miles in a year and a half and it needed to have something replaced? I'm shocked. I didn't realize vehicles needed maintenance.

I thought from the giubo or brake threads that it was one or two years. But, still, the replacement part warranty would seem to apply.

I dunno, I'd say you're doing pretty well given the heavy use. What did the solenoid cost to replace?

Solenoid should not go bad every 40,000...Requires removal of tranny at a cost of $2100 with labor... Maintenance huh !!! Get a clue !!!

Well you've raised a lot of issues. It is clear that your van sees usage that is not common, is this causing your tranny solenoid issue? Ford thinks so. If I were you I would do some research and see how common this failure is. In my year plus as a Transit fanatic I have never heard of any.

Maybe this go around your vibration is caused by something else? If it does in fact need another solenoid and you like the van otherwise why pay dealer prices? These are pretty simple and roomy to work on, you could likely get a much better price from a trusted privateer.

You could try another newer Ford but I can see why you would not want to. Another option is F Ford and sell it to fund buying one of the other full size vans on the market.

try asking on the expediter forums, there are many other people there with high mileage transits in commercial use.
