Patience has (hopefully) paid off...I'm going to look at a nicely fitted used
T250 Cargo on Monday. med roof/med length

It's only got 5k miles, and a 2015 with 18 months of remaining bumper to bumper warranty.
Clean carfax..I think...I paid $3 independently on a well known auction site,seemed legit.
I'm jumping on a plane tomorrow, but hopefully will find a minute to research inspections more.

With such low miles, I'm just going to inspect the fluids, climb under and look for drips, chewed wires, check for body damage, look for body panel stickers with original VIN (yes on these transits?), and see if it drives/brakes straight at hwy speeds without excess noise/vibration/pulling. Check electronics system. Run a code puller. I hope the guibo is still intact. j/k

He did say he towed a 20' boat for a lot of those miles. When I asked the weight he said maybe 10,000 lbs but didn't sound sure about it, maybe a guess. Concerned, but googled 20' boat and the ones I saw weighed more like 5k to 7k pounds with trailer. I'll definitely inspect the transmission fluid. Is towing that weight a red flag even if it was 10k pounds? I think the limit if 5-6k lbs, but maybe that's for non-braking trailers and more about braking capacity?

Is there anything else I should look at? The price is very fair, enough for a bit of wiggle room in condition.

If there are any special teams out on Monday afternoon/eve, I may check in if any issues arise post inspection, otherwise I'll be headed for Florida sunshine, for a few weeks inaugural mission.

At only 5k miles on it I wouldn't worry too much, he could have just of been disappointed in a certain aspect of the Transit (towing maybe?), what engine is in it? I have also never heard of a 20' boat weighing 10k pounds, perhaps he is talking about the total GCWR?

2016 Transit van- MR 148", 3.2l, 3.73 LS, Green Gem, with every option.

Agreed, with 5k miles you will not find much wear - mine is like new at 7k. Look for obvious signs of abuse/ damage. The fact that the PO doesn't know how much he was towing is a red flag for me. Towing is not some casual activity where you hook it up and go.

I ma pretty sure a 250 cargo is rated to pull 5500 lbs, anything more than that will abuse the vehicle and also present a huge risk on the road.

Aside from that I bet the rig is fine. If he did tow overweight I doubt much damage could be done in such a short time.

Yeah, sure was a red flag, ...the seller's personal circumstance changed which more or less forced a sale, sounds legit. I'll ask him a little more about the boat in a when I go down Monday. Thanks!
