Rear View Camera with Mirror Display

I just picked up a 2016 T350 LR Transit. It has the basic stock radio. I will be replacing it with a double din that has a rear view camera input. I would like to wire the rear view mirror display to the new radio I'll be installing. Has anyone done this? Any advice on identifying the wires needed to connect into?

Congrats on your new van. An idea for you would be leave the rear view camera you have now alone, and add an additional backup camera hooked to your double din head unit. My 2015 T350 LR Transit did not come with a backup camera, so I bought one of those brake light cameras and hooked it to my double din head unit. The perspective is different enough that it might be worth having both.

My plan was to install a second camera up high, in addition to the factory camera that is just above the license plate. I like the low camera, as it will help with all the towing I will be doing. I installed a camera on top of my econoline and really like that perspective too. helps a lot with the blind spots while driving. Since I'm upgrading the from the basic radio to a double din with 6" screen, i would like to wire the rear view mirror display to the new radio, along with a second camera. My new HU has an additional video input for this. I did search the forum, other than someone else asking the same question, no answers on the camera wiring at the rear view mirror.

I have a 2017 T250 LWB that also has the camera display on the rear view mirror. Being I have no rear windows making the rear view mirror useless I would like to wire the camera to always be on so I can see if a small car is directly behind me and so I can see how far to pull when I drive through one parking space into the next. Anybody know what it would take to do this? I hope it isn't computer networked

this has been discussed extensively here in reverse camera only threads and in stereo threads, one thread said the ford reverse camera can not be wired to stay on all the time because it was not built for that and will overheat. the reverse camera control box is located inside the wall between the right rear tire and the right rear door post, it is easy to gain access the box in a cargo van, if you want to try to hack into it. wiring diagrams are almost nonexistent and good wiring diagrams cost 2700 dollars for each year you use it. perhaps you would be better off with something aftermarket, (you can buy license plate mount camaras!) but i do remember reading about others here hooking the ford cameras into car audio/gps displays.
